The generalization of this is that to be evil you probably amassed something (wealth, power etc). And you’re probably taking those things from other people (mostly legally) Depending on who you’re taking from who, that might make you evil to some people. But you had to be pretty resourceful to begin with to take the stuff on the first place.
Chairman Birb Bernanke@Bonecondor

The honest to god reason there is so much evil in the world is that quite frankly, on average, evil people have their shit together

Company building is akin to goldmining but each company is like mining a different ore, on a different planet, with different terrain, and a different toolset Career analysts fall short here so your best bet is someone who's struck gold once (ie ex founder). Because they will have understood the process so deeply they will also be useful when mining uranium copper etc. A career analyst may be smart, sure, but their insights likely arent deep enough to carry over when the meta changes

the greatest trick sequoia ever pulled was convincing founders that the two year gs tmt analyst is who you need to help build a company

the major consumer apps over the last 10 years offered you the chance to get rich. that's it: - tiktok - twitter/x - instagram - robinhood - coinbase - skilled gaming / gambling - lovable - kalshi - all of crypto You were a creator/gambler who was escaping the rat race, and whatever you paid the app was the entry fee to the carnival

theres an interesting cohort of anti-elites on twitter - shkreli - paul graham - michael siebel - nikita bier - p4 they have seen the halls of power/wealth and decided its really not all that & its more fun to hang out with here with the rest of us
Martin Shkreli@MartinShkreli

@khaslett basically there is this weird cottage industry of wannabe-fixers, mostly attorneys, who say they can get your pardon application 'to the right people'.

lose has lower ev in my opinion -- those vc partner roles are non-partner track in many cases -- should only do vc after successful exit or with a good angel track record. new startup - maybe? good co is something you could have done after college anyway? I think this is why pg isnt a big advocate for dropping out. outcome distribution is the same & its a one-way door

@broadglow Outcome = win, billionaire Outcome = lose, fail upward into VC partner role, new startup, get scooped by good co. But lose college years

Kinda feel sad for Ivy dropouts who do startups for the sake of keeping up expectations but age out of the opportunity to go back to school and have legitimately excellent experiences

@broadglow On a pure expectations basis dropping out always makes sense. But on a life experiences basis I think not A few extra years grinding your youth in sf isn’t really so great as college memories
