@brokencuffs

There’s too many ways to make money to do it miserably

1. Want to avoid doing tedious work 2. Spend a ton of time getting Claude to do tedious work 3. Looks off, spot check work 4. Iterate for hours 5. Get an output but check every last line thereby just doing the original work you were avoiding

Had some set backs this morning that 3 years ago would’ve put me out of business Grateful I’m past that phase and just going to get new socks to help mitigate the pain instead

My kids are still quite young but I think about their futures all the time (employment, cost of living etc.). If I had teenagers or children getting ready to go to college here’s what I’d tell them: Live at home. For as long as you want. But under the following condition: Contribute to the household. Get a job. Go to school. Don’t be a deadbeat or burnout. Save your money and use it to take some shots at some business ideas. Or we can pool our earning power as a family and invest in some additional real estate. Overall idea here being strength in numbers and using family as a force multiplier to help launch you into the world running. A strong, intact family is the unfair advantage you’re looking for.

Now that I’m done shitposting, real talk. Yeah inflation is a b!tch. The cost of goods is insane. House prices are ridiculous. As are interest rates. I have 2 zoomer daughters. I worry about them all the time. I don’t know how they’ll afford a home, groceries, or anything else. Even in Michigan, a decent COL area, starter homes are $400k+. But the whole point of my Boomer-ish takes on this app are because of one fact: This isn’t going to change any time soon. You are wasting your time rage posting and getting bent out of shape on social media. Instead, do something about it. Find ways to save money. Increase your skills. Job hop to increase income. Grind, hustle, and do what you gotta do. When I first started teaching the old head union dudes would pressure me to go to protests in Lansing (capital building). They’d say “we are going to yell and scream until we get what we deserve!” I never went. It rubbed me the wrong way. I’m not about to whine, cry, beg, and complain about “the system” or “the man”. Because it’s damn near impossible to change that. But it’s not overly difficult to change yourself and your situation if you have some perseverance, grit, and a baseline of intelligence.

@brokencuffs I recently went to a food court near the airport with a $23 budget (per diem for lunch, charging more triggers a justification). A large poke bowl for $20 was by far the best value. Jersey Mike's next door wanted $19 for a freaking sandwich.

When I was 22 I was ridiculed on the trading floor because I bought a $20 poke bowl My boss said I was overpaid, senior traders saying not even they would spend that let alone the lowest paid person there to get it Proper bullying culture Now we’re entitled to it?

The lunch discourse is hilarious The experience of eating out at a restaurant for lunch daily is 100x better than packing a lunch. Why shouldn’t it cost way more? Why would you be entitled to it? First class is better than coach. Are you too good for coach? Your wallet decides

@MealltaMcFie Not sure what your point is. I’m American I imagine my audience as American. If something doesn’t apply to you because you’re overseas then idk it’s not for you

It is all in good fun to dunk on the lunch people but in all seriousness not being able to eat out should be temporary Life is better if you try to make an extra $15 a day to enjoy the lunch or coffee or whatever Many options. You can do it by churning credit card sign ups

Gm Made an offer on a place last night Came on the market Monday Offered slightly above ask, otherwise standard stuff I’ve seen a dozen or so houses at this point - this one was underpriced for the house itself, lot, and neighborhood They have until 6 pm tonight - I have a good feeling House hunting is like dating. Have to date a few to know what you really want, will accept, and where the value is Fingers crossed
