🚨 I was almost taken hostage in Cuba... I went to Cuba to document the humanitarian crisis and show life under 60+ years of communism and now amid the US blockade. Once I landed, they seized all my cameras except my iPhone and had intelligence agents following me all day until my security noticed their spies tailing us to the hotel where they waited all night for us to come down. Under communism there is no free speech, and those who show the reality or speak up are imprisoned. Me going without a planned Cuban government guide nearly got me and my security taken hostage or imprisoned. The situation in Cuba is much worse than anyone knows.

This is probably my favorite part of any flight. We’ve been airborne and suspended in animation for more hours than most people consider a regular working day. The sun never did set because at these high latitudes it never really does during this time of year despite it being 3 am. The flying First Officer just left to the back for a minute or two to take his cruise uniform off, which today consisted of flannel pants, a Pink Floyd hoodie (massive brownie points for that I might add) and hotel slippers, and slip back into his crisp white shirt and golden epaulettes and wings. I can hear my relief cruise First Officer working the coffee maker in the galley a few feet behind me in his valiant and appreciated effort to keep us all caffeinated and ready for what is about to unfold over the next 45 minutes. And there, right there, for a few minutes, I sit in complete silence and solitude admiring the faint dark blue horizon before me prior to the opening scene of a complicated yet beautifully scripted ballet which will bring 750,000 lbs. of jet aircraft to a safe landing and us 3 to our soft fluffy beds at the end of a long tiring day… What a life….

It’s just awesome Rick that you appreciate so much what you do and share it so succinctly. Based on your narrative, I could hear the soft whine of those 4 beautiful turbines behind you, hear the metallic clink of the coffee pot as your fellow crew member tries to make coffee, oh wait, he did! I smell fresh coffee! Nice!

Early on, I loved visiting Seattle and would spend hours before every game just walking the streets and exploring—it was my favorite road trip. But I have never in my life joked about Jill Biden becoming a widow or Michelle Obama becoming a widow. I’ve never joked about Joe Biden or Barack Obama having an attempt made on their life. I’ve never laughed at the thought of their wives standing there in fear, wondering if their husbands are going to make it home alive. Because that is not comedy. That is sick. You could have joked about Melania being married to Trump. You could have joked about politics. You could have even gone after her accent like liberals usually do.
