@MegaGyarados2 @AirCanada There is no legal obligation to let you up and go to the bathroom unless it’s a very long delay. Your gate likely was not ready or was occupied by another plane. It happens, it sucks. There are all kinds of reasons. I wouldn’t get too bent out of shape.

The longer delay occurred after we had arrived at our destination and were waiting for our gate to be freed so we could exit the plane. We were originally told 15 minutes at most, it ended up being 42. Based on my research this is called a “tarmac delay” and they are legally required to give us access to the washroom which they didn’t do.

Short haul flights in the Toronto, NY, Chicago, Boston area often get delayed. These major airports frequently hit arrival capacity limits during the evening rush. It's much easier to keep a plane on the ground in NY than slow/delay aircraft that have been in the air for 5+ hours. When planes are waiting on the ground, they often have to start moving on very short notice. Taking 5 extra minutes to wait for passengers to sit down is a huge problem. Moving while people are still up IS a violation of federal law.

Just wanted to take a moment to say fuck @AirCanada - 30 minute delay to board our plane followed by a 42 minute delay to deboard our plane. This was for a 90 minute flight from NY to Toronto. They also did not give us access to the washrooms during this tarmac delay in violation of federal law. Once again, fuck @AirCanada. In case it wasn’t clear, fuck you @AirCanada

Think about this..... in Canada, it costs 1.2 MILLION dollars for the RIGHT to milk 50 cows, and start a dairy farm. This is just for PERMISSION. This is BEFORE you buy the land the cows, the barn etc. This is done with the SOLE INTENTION of keeping milk prices HIGH

@DJSnM If they can’t figure out a heat shield that doesn’t require refurbishment, they’ll eventually automate inspection and refurbishment to the point it will take hours instead of weeks.

It would suck if spaceX had to remove and reapply the tiles on Starship after every flight. Last time we watched them do that it took 2 weeks. That would mean Starship reflight would *only* be 4 times faster than the Space Shuttle.

I'm wondering why people can't just fly out of Pearson. It's a ~25 min train ride to downtown from there.

This is SO UGLY someone bought a condo in Etobicoke (near Toronto) in 2023 for $458,000 DEFAULTED on the mortgage, so then the bank FORCED the sale of the property and made the owner sell it for $290,000. A $168,000 loss.

@Phrankensteyn Adding a LES with its own heat shield, motors that integrate with or work around the main heat shield, a coupling/separation interface, parachutes, and potentially a separate life support system would mean a complete redesign of Starship and a significant weight penalty.

If she’s a proper business with insurance, no problem. If it’s cash and she isn’t covered, tough for you. No one working as a cleaner for cash should be expected to be liable for thousands of dollars if they damage their customer’s overpriced belongings. There is a reason condos don’t allow un-bonded contractors to do work in units.

I hired a cleaner to do a proper deep clean at my house and had to pop out for a while. When I came back, she was sitting in the living room waiting for me, and I immediately knew something had happened. She looked nervous, then told me she had broken the bathroom basin. I went to see it and honestly could not understand how it had even happened, but there it was, cracked and damaged.

@DenySully With the same number of arrival/departure slots, max pax throughput is 6.8M with Q400s and 11.5M with E2s. The airport won’t hit nearly that volume in either case. YWG, YOW, YHZ are all smaller easy to deal with airports compared to YYZ each with about 4.5M pax/year

What's weird about the Billy Bishop thing is the whole appeal of it is that its small! It's a totally different value proposition with 10 million pax than 2 million

Dragon can safely abort and land back on earth at every single point from liftoff to orbit. Starship in its current architecture will blow up if there is a launch malfunction at any point short of reaching orbit. No number of successful launches can get around this and aircraft have far greater fault tolerance than Starship ever will in its current form.
