@BigChermiti9 @HamillAF I could never support an all Ireland team, I’m not going to match to potentially end up standing beside someone who idolises the IRA. Just look at the recent pub footage of Irish fans that RTE was playing on TV, they had to cut the footage when the IRA chants started.

The lunacy of 2 different football teams and associations on our small island laid bare once again tonight. All-Ireland football team now.

@HamillAF Why not do away with England, Scotland and Wales too. Let's have a British Isles team. Bit like the Lions in the rugby. You up for that?

@browneindo @MRodden I'd take Parrotts path every day of the week. Parrott has taken development moves to become a better footballer, as a result he's going to get a big move this summer and will be earning considerably more than Idah.

Luck and injuries play a part but a huge problem with the Irish men's football team is too many players spending far too long in the second tier of English football. More need to follow Troy Parrott's lead.

@browneindo True but so do people from other countries who go elsewhere. All sorts of factors involved+every case different. Troy likely a better player+maybe made more money earlier but he'll be earning more than AI next season. AI tried Celtic in fairness to him. Thanks for the feedback!

My latest on how a 3-second video clip of a guy who's never played a down of football has sent college coaches into a frenzy. Meet Ireland’s Neff Giwa, a 6-7 1/2, 295-pound rugby-player-turned O-lineman with 37-inch arms who can run a 4.88 40. Free story: nytimes.com/athletic/71363…

@cfcire Jeez, fair play to the guy. He wants to continue to try to make the England squad. Let him. If he feels no affinity to Ireland, he feels no affinity towards Ireland.

@thejournal_ie There seems to be a perverse delight at seeing the US predicament. The US is incalculably better than the regime in Iran which killed tens of thousands of its own people. Ireland should help the US here - not necessarily militarily but perhaps diplomatically

Good Morning from Germany, where spot gas prices have surged to above €60 per megawatt hour. That makes natural gas roughly 6 times more expensive here than in the US.

@DarraghScott The total amount of beef Ireland imported to Ireland would fill maybe a dozen truckloads in a year. A single truck could do a pick up and delivery once a month

@DougieCritchley Difference is Arsenal score a set piece and then defend with 11 players for the rest of the game no attack at all , also for example a lot of Chelsea etc set piece goals have been whilst winning not many have won us games

% of League goals scored from set-pieces (including penalties) in 25/26 Crystal Palace: 54% Newcastle: 49% Leeds: 44% Chelsea: 40% Arsenal + Wolves: 38% And yet, it's only Arsenal who get brandished as a "set-piece team" 🤔

@robertburke84 Who are we building up the military, to defend ourselves against? We've been attacked by exactly one country, in the last 1000 years. And when Irish people looked to us for defence.. we crapped ourselves

Military neutrality isn’t the reason that Ireland has next to zero ability to defend ourselves as a nation. It’s because Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil, Green Party and Labour utterly neglected our military for years. Political choices, made by the same people blaming neutrality for it.

What damning indictment of our government and its politicians. 7000 Irish medical professionals registered In Australia, an increase of 86% in a few years. Our beat and brightest being pushed out while we pay agencies to import replacements from the 3rd world.

@FPLMaineRoad @ThurgzFTBL I thought the same thing about the City team that beatr Arsenal to the league a few years ago.. pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, etc etc.. until opponents were bored into giving up goals. Arsenal are the 2nd highest scorers in the league, 3 behind City.. but they're boring.. right

@ThurgzFTBL It’s that narrative of low blocks which is overplayed, in my opinion. The way arsenal build up from the back is so slow, that it gives every team so much time to get in position. They’re a great team, I just find it so painful to watch as it is boring.

There is just absolutely no way anyone, including Arsenal fans, find this style of football entertaining. Absolutely drains the energy out of 90% of matches. Painful.
