They never heard of "the separation of church and state". I am a Christian. I love to pray. But this country is made up of Muslims, Hindus, Jews, and atheists. They need to be represented, too.

Leavitt begins the press briefing: "Could you hear our 'amen' in there? We just had a little loud prayer as a team. In this holy week, President Trump and the First Lady are joining in prayer with Christians celebrating the resurrection of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ."

You don’t get both: * A tax-exempt pulpit * A political megaphone Pick one. Because the moment religion starts directing votes, it stops being just religion. And taxpayers shouldn’t be subsidizing political influence.

Can’t they just vote on the Senate bill?
Speaker Mike Johnson@SpeakerJohnson

Democrats have now caused the LONGEST shutdown in history — REFUSING to fund Homeland Security and BLOCKING paychecks for TSA agents, FEMA, border patrol support staff, and other brave law enforcement. …All because they would rather reopen our border and protect criminal illegal aliens than keep Americans safe! The House has voted to fully fund @DHSgov **FOUR times**— but Chuck Schumer wants to pick and choose which law enforcement officers can get their paycheck. It's OUTRAGEOUS and unfair.  Their RECKLESS obsession with criminal illegal aliens hurts every American and puts our national security at risk. @HouseGOP will continue to stand for law and order.

#AfternoonPoetry Perfect Recall Out walking I went
that late morning, the lure of spring sun irresistible,
the voice of the mountains
leafed in new green notes
calling to me.

I had no particular destination,
wanting only to shake off
the shackles of a hard winter,
and striking off the paved road
into town walked down
an old dirt road that leads
to the foothills.

Loving spring's scent
and the birdsong I sang too,
that old tune about
wild mountain thyme.
Not a half mile in
I heard the rumble of a bike
and turned to watch it come,
spitting roaddust and
winter's leftovers in its wake.

I didn't know the rider,
but he stopped a bit ahead
of me and waited.
Perhaps I should've been afraid
but wasn't - I've lived here all my life
and things are peaceful.

He smiled and said hello.
I smiled and answered same
and saw he wasn't really waiting,
for he took a toolbag out
from somewhere and adjusted
something needing some adjusting.
Then the motor roared and he was off,
waving as the woods swallowed him up.

I walked my walk,
and the way the mountains looked
that day made me want to cry,
they were so beautiful.
It's graven in memory, along with
the stranger on the bike.

I never saw that man again,
but haven't forgotten how the light -
sunglow filtered through forest -
shot diamonds from his eyes of
steel blue.
I remember – still – his hands,
how capable and sure as he
put the bike to rights.

Sometimes I wish I'd ridden off
with him,
but then I wouldn't have
these memories.
This way it's perfect –
and how many things
in this flawed and forlorn world ever are?
