During the 2025 festive season, we registered fewer crashes than in the previous festive period (2024), with the 2024 festive period also recording fewer crashes compared to 2023. This indicates that over the last two festive periods (2024–2025), we have continued to register improvement from one period to the next. We thank all our stakeholders who partnered with us to ensure safer roads during the season, as well as every individual road user who practiced safe habits to promote road safety. Our initiatives, including #ArriveAlive operations and road safety sensitization campaigns, continue across the country to further promote road safety. As the year begins, we remind the public that some activities are still ongoing, including political campaigns, during which some people may not be cautious about road safety. We therefore urge every road user to remain vigilant while using the roads to avoid crashes that could result in loss of life or injuries. @PoliceUg @MoWT_Uganda @itmsug @uganda_drivers @swrwug @KCCAUG @omongondugu1 @UgandaMediaCent @WassajjaAiden @Akeda4 @RichardB_Nyombi @SimbaAutomotiv1

In our Arrive Alive Operations Phase II, we are more committed to promoting road safety. Do not risk driving without a valid driving license, ensure that your vehicle is in proper mechanical condition, including good tyres, intact windscreens & a fully functioning lighting system, among other essential components. Where defects or missing essential components are identified, we will require that they be repaired or replaced before you proceed with your journey. This is not intended to inconvenience you, but rather to ensure your safety & the safety of others on the road. Significant efforts are being made through ongoing operations to promote order and safety on our roads. However, while enforcement continues, we urge all road users to remember their personal responsibilities. Avoid reckless overtaking, adhere to speed limits & remain mindful of all traffic regulations at all times. Road safety is not about blaming one another. It is about working together to create a safer & more responsible driving environment for everyone.

Drivers must not leave vehicles on the road in a manner that causes obstruction or poses danger to other road users. If a vehicle breaks down, the driver is required to immediately place reflective warning triangles or rectangular reflectors both in front of & behind the vehicle to prevent crashes. The driver must also notify the nearest police station so that officers can control traffic while arrangements are made to remove the vehicle & restore smooth traffic flow as soon as possible. The law requires that a broken-down vehicle in a rural area shall be removed from a public road within @6 hours from the time of the break down or accident & within @2 hours if it is in an urban area. Members of the public are urged to report any broken-down vehicles through the toll-free number @0800199099 or whatsapp @0779999999. Motorists are reminded to drive at a controlled speed to avoid crashes involving broken-down vehicles.

As part of our ongoing road safety campaigns this season, our focus is on the safety of passengers in Passenger Service Vehicles. We aim to empower every passenger to speak up whenever they notice any violation by drivers. Choose safety above everything. If something doesn’t feel right, speak up. Do not be intimidated — it is your life, not anyone else’s. Your safety is our priority. Toll-free: 0800 199 099

A phone call might get you off a checkpoint, but it won’t get you out of danger when a crash comes. Crashes don’t answer to connections — choose safety over influence.
