The company says it has received a shipment of 100,000 digital chips and will prioritise first-time vehicle and motorcycle registrations while continuing to process post-registration requests. He said some of the raw materials used to manufacture the number plates were sourced internationally, including from Russia, Italy and Dubai, but supply disruptions affected deliveries to Uganda. “Because of the Middle East conflicts, this greatly interrupted our production process,” Turyarugayo said. @turyarugayostev added that @itmsug had since diversified its logistics routes, with electronic components now being received through Oman and Qatar to stabilise supplies. UPDATE: The Intelligent Transport Monitoring System (ITMS) has received new electronic components for digital number plate production following a directive by Works and Transport Minister Fred Byamukama to restore services and clear the backlog.

Today morning ,the first consignment of the long awaited for electronic components for the manufacturing of the New Registration Plates has landed at @EIAirportug via @flyethiopian cargo. @itmsug is on course to clear the number plate backlog by 30th August, 2026. @turyarugayostev @MoWT_Uganda
