Important: Last week, 2 cheetahs named Tejas & Suraj died at the Kuno National Park in MP in just 2 days. A total of 8 cheetahs have died in JUST the last 5 months The Modi Govt predictably first blamed their deaths on "fighting". But reports have now disclosed that a post mortem found that the radio collars put around the necks of cheetahs were unsuitable for them & rubbed against their skin causing wounds. These wounds got infected with maggots due to humidity (which is a bad climate for cheetahs) which led to "septicaemia" or "sudden shock" that killed the cheetahs. The entire cheetah translocation project has been treated by the Modi Govt as a photo-op and then has been ignored. Deaths of cheetahs are NOT acceptable especially when they happen due to causes that are preventable. I have written to Minister @byadavbjp urging him to take immediate steps & to change the lax attitude of his ministry & govt towards protecting the lives of cheetahs.
