hot take none of this no-code automation crap actually makes life any better. You want something automated, you gotta automate it yourself. BRB, putting the Dev back in #DevOps and the E back in #SRE

@harsh_thakur_1 Oh rad, haven't seen that, thanks! I was (in hobby mode only) going down the terraform consul sync road for now but that looks interesting. I want to distill the method, independent of implementation

@brusisceddu Oh, have you checked out/considered KCP? It's just the K8s control plane, so you don't have to re-implement all of that in Nomad land. github.com/kcp-dev/kcp

Gotta admit it's not that easy to write operators in nomad but heck if I'm gonna quit trying
Harsh@harsh_thakur_1

@aantn I have a feeling it's due to control plane extensibility. If it was only the orchestration bits, Nomad would've had a bigger share of the pie than it has today for various architectural decisions. Also, CNCF/Google must have played a big role in the initial adoption.

@harsh_thakur_1 But ya k8s as control plane is a powerful attractor, no doubt. Nomad's killer feature is it can easily run any workload easily... there's a nomad/terraform integration missing maybe to implement the control plane like k8s

@harsh_thakur_1 It's DIY but you haven't access to the event streaming api so you can write operators. With consul you can use the service registry/discovery and kv store to build something like crds. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure the whole model can be replicated

If I went to Italy (Rome, Pompeii/Herculaneum, maybe Sicily?) in the winter, would everything good still be open? I want to go when it is both cheaper and also just not hot, I crave the Mediterranean sans heat.

Proud of this one -- On today's Getting There podcast, we talk to @LauraDeVesine about the global outage that DataDog had in March. She's a brilliant interviewee. Our first special guest, & our first practitioner interview - but not our last! @nora_js heavybit.com/library/podcas…
