@trentjhughes Tampa has seen extreme price increases over the last 5 years. Cost of living isn’t as low as people think.

Anatomy of a deal (how we save a client a million bucks while charging $0) Need: Internet connectivity for a fleet of ~1000 vehicles. Original carrier price - $75 per vehicle/month CMIS negotiated deal - $40 per vehicle/month Zero activation fees + $50k bill credit as a signing bonus. Savings - $1.3m over the 36m contract. Our cost to the client? $0...we get paid by the carrier.

Left my house today at 9a, made it to the hotel in Chicago at 7p after 5 hours of flight delays. I just spent the last few hours walking around the city with a buddy after dinner enjoying the cool weather. We felt unsafe zero times. Tomorrow I'm getting an Italian beef sandwich, checking out a river architecture cruise and seeing System of a Down, Avenged Sevenfold and Polyphia at Soldier Field. I like Chicago.

@BigJohn043 @SMB_Attorney This is it "FWIW, in SMB land if you are a searcher or a fundless guy you shouldn't be using buy side brokers in any case. That is your job..."

@SMB_Attorney gives lots of great advice, but I disagree with him here. All of the reputable buy side shops ask for a retainer. Usually it isn't a lot of money ($5-10K a month), but they all ask for it. If you are a big PE shop with a long track record of closing add-ons they might waive it. But not usually. And the kind of shops that they might waive it for generally don't care because they know they are going to close something. FWIW, in SMB land if you are a searcher or a fundless guy you shouldn't be using buy side brokers in any case. That is your job... And if a buyside guy is willing to do a search for you without a retainer you are probably getting what you pay for....

Announcement #1: Largely based on forthcoming announcement #2, I am elated to share that I am joining @smblawgroup as Of Counsel (M&A strategic advisor, attorney, and deal whisperer). I got into ETA to get into business ownership. Along the journey, I founded NextGen Law on April 4, 2024 (those who know me know why those 4s means so much) to provide value to the market. In <1 year, I've served over 20 clients, and I have treasured each relationship. They have been profound representations. The decision to transition those representations to another firm is not one that I took or take lightly as other opportunities loom around the corner. But where better--and how full circle / cool--to 'come home to than the "SMB" brand than with the OG small business attorneys: @SMB_Attorney , @KHendersonCo , and @Sam_Rosati, and the rest of their incredible team that I have not yet had the pleasure to meet! (Digital ink still drying on our agreement; need to get onboarded.) Indeed, it was @SMBootcamp_ where I first got my springboard. And the story I can't wait to share more is rooted in the relationships that sprung from that. I could not be happier. I could not be more proud. God is good, and there is more good to come!
