@Steve_UK77 The problem wasn’t the sound chip. It was the crappy default sound driver that most all the developers used. Treasure wrote a new driver for Earth worm Jim from scratch and the sound is amazing. Sega should have done that for everyone. Lol.

So here's a question for the experts... The very early versions of the Genesis/Megadrive... Did they REALLY sound much better? Mine is a VA4 but I keep hearing that the VA3 is the golden goose and the one to look for. Sometimes, with these things, it's an urban myth though.

@gamer_lafan The mega drive version was very close. The cart should have been 8megs like the almost perfect Strider port.

The X68000 was one of the best home computers for enjoying classic Konami and Capcom arcade games. Its hardware was so powerful that, aside from the Neo Geo, it was virtually the only system capable of delivering near-perfect arcade conversions at the time. Unfortunately, it was extremely expensive and sold exclusively in Japan, so very few people ever had the chance to experience it. Even today, decades after its release, the quality of its games is still incredibly impressive. Ghouls ’n Ghosts is a perfect example. Compared to the Mega Drive and PC Engine versions, the X68000 port is on an entirely different level in terms of accuracy and overall quality. It’s still amazing to think that a game this good could fit on just two floppy disks.

Honestly, the Mega Drive version of Strider still hits so hard. It had this weird, gritty, Soviet cyberpunk aesthetic that felt way cooler and more mature than anything else out at the time. Total masterpiece, #Sega was one bad ass console to own at the this exact moment.

The executives at Amazon reportedly think that Stargate is too small of a franchise for people to have heard of. So let me ask the question: Have YOU personally heard of Stargate before? Let’s shock them with our numbers! #SaveStargate

This was a new drawing I put together for the 202X book. I wasn't happy with my original arcade Contra drawing and felt like this was more fitting. Since I like the NES version more than the arcade one, I went with a take on this old flyer. BUT now that I've been playing and getting extremely good at my actual arcade Contra, my thoughts have changed! I still don't like the arcade one more than the NES version, but I've gotten a deep appreciation of it. While down on it in 202X, I'd say I love it now. I'll likely be revisiting a Game Reflections for the arcade one once I master hard mode.

Hey, Amazon. If you think a new Stargate series won’t perform well, consider that fans continue to religiously watch episodes from 20+ years ago. My wife and I have the Blu-rays in constant rotation and usually watch an episode every night. We’re in the middle of our 21st marathon (currently SG-1, Season 6, Episode 4 - Frozen). Not a week goes by without Stargate playing in our house. Our daughter has watched it countless times and knows the intro music by heart. Stargate has seen us through good times and bad. Rain and shine. Elation and heartbreak. It has a quality that hasn’t been available on television in decades. It will always be part of our lives and that’s a testament to its greatness and why it should live on with new episodes that preserve the spirit of the original. You want a hit? Rethink the absurd decision to cancel the new series with the original team. Give them what they need to do their work. Then release it and check the numbers. Afterwards, remaster the original Blu-rays in 4K as an anniversary edition and release it alongside the new series. You will be met with the enthusiasm of a fan base like no other. Take a chance on this team. Take a chance on the fans. You will not be disappointed. @bradtravelers @BaronDestructo @martingero @venturepictures @MichaelShanks @EverySG1Frame @EverySGAFrame @SGFansUnited @dhewlett @amandatapping @iamchrisjudge @SkeeterOnSound @StargateNow_EU @StargateYT @StargateZone @Jack2LOneill @CptCarterSG1 @GateWorld @dial_the_gate @JennyStiven @DrDJackson @disparutoo @TheCriticalDri2 @Nerdrotics @elevsia @AmazonMGMStudio @amazon @PrimeVideo #SaveStargate #Stargate

Doom and Age of Empires creator Sandy Petersen blasts Amazon over their handling of Stargate: "1) get handed a massively popular IP that spans 17 years of successful shows." "2) realize it has millions of loyal fans, desperate for more. They are now in their 40s and 50s, flush with money. Eager to teach their kids & grandkids about Stargate." "3) you could start with this. You are already three steps up the ladder to huge success. The fans will evangelize it, if you don't wreck the IP. Don't believe it? Look how the fans evangelized Battlestar Galactica after its 30 year hiatus. And the initial Dr Who reboot after 15 years." "4) cancel the project because you want a "new take" that will eliminate all the loyal fans and turn them into bitter enemies." "It's like an ancient Greek play about hubris." Why are corporate execs like this?

@AmazonMGMStudio @amazon A new Stargate show would have brought in millions of core fans + sci fi fans in general + fans of other Amazon shows + new fans. Then when these new fans realize hey there’s decades of other seasons from before? That would equal tons of streams and $.

Sadly, it's true. Amazon has elected not to move forward with the new Stargate series. There's not much I can add beyond confirming what's happened. But I will say this... Creator Martin Gero developed a new Stargate series over two years, ultimately crafting a show that offered a fresh jumping-on point for new viewers while deeply respecting existing canon. It was a series that avoided the pitfalls of several modern remakes and reboots by fully embracing the core of its predecessors: action, adventure, exploration, wonder, heart, humor, and found family. And based on that creative vision, the new Stargate series was greenlit in November of 2025. As of today, officially, that original vision is no more. We'll never get the opportunity to introduce you to that world and those characters - or reintroduce you to, and check in with, some familiar faces from the past. My heart breaks. For the incredibly talented writers who worked tirelessly to bring this show to life. For Martin who maintained an unwavering positive outlook throughout despite the challenges, and who always strove to make a show that would honor the fans while welcoming a new audiences. And for the long-suffering Stargate fandom who waited so long and came so close to getting a show they truly would have loved.

@XRPee1983 Not fair actually. The PC engine originally went up against the NES. NEC canceled their true 16 bit system plans to battle the SNES and the Super Grafx a beefed up pc engine appeared instead dead on arrival. Lol Too bad the console never got to show off what it could really do.

@jimjustgames The Genesis. Growing up at the time it was the first console that felt like we finally got a true arcade experience at home. The jump in graphics power from the NES and Master system was huge. Altered beast, Afterburner, Strider, Ghouls and Ghost etc.
