husband and I are boosted; kids are <5. I am 10% worried about one of us testing positive, 30% worried about having Long Covid after technically recovering, and 60% worried about the impact that needing to quarantine for ? will have on our jobs/marriage/general sanity.

Reminder, the Prop 47 $950 felony threshold for shoplifting in CA is actually still pretty strict. Here in TX, for example, it's $2,500. The issue isn't that definitions or sentences for crime are too lax in CA — the issue is these gangs just don't fear they'll be caught at all.

I have never called @CareFirst, my health insurance provider, and not gotten the “call volume is higher than anticipated…” recording. sounds like your expectations are fundamentally unrealistic, CareFirst, and you need to staff up your call center!

9/ You might be wondering: If Project 2025 wants to slash gov’t so much, why bother recruiting and training all these people? Why not leave the jobs empty? In another video, Spencer Chretien, an associate director of Project 2025, answers that question: youtu.be/96OplD90lSU?fe…

1/ Hey everybody, I’ve got a new story out. It’s an *exclusive* look inside PROJECT 2025’s plan to train an army of political appointees who could battle against the so-called deep state bureaucracy for a future Trump administration. The story began with a tip. It's 🧵 time…

Was tempted to celebrate the end of the 90-plus streak earlier this afternoon but it appears DC spiked to at least 90 shortly after 3p. Try again tomorrow?

@dcfireems all well and good to be reminded that fireworks are illegal in DC, but there’s absolutely no enforcement of that!

Ok, it's that time (maybe past that time): We declare spring over and the start of summer in DC -- based on weather patterns. Next week's heat looks brutal -- maybe one of the hottest stretches in years. Details ⬇️ washingtonpost.com/weather/2024/0…

Yes, it’s unfortunate museum fundraisers have to exist at all (Remember: the Costume Institute has to raise its own funding; it is not a part of the general Met Museum money pot), but until we leave in that utopia, this is how it works.

As tomorrow’s #MetGala approaches, I would like to remind everyone that while the part you may be most familiar with is the red carpet event, the *actual* department the Met Gala funds is the unglamorous thing you don’t think about the other 364 days/year…the Costume Institute.

Question: If I write "strange women lying in ponds is no basis for a system of government"... does anybody under 40 know what I'm talking about? Do I have to cite it lest someone thinks I made that up myself? Should I just give up because I am old and need to be put in a home?

This is not a drill. He’s pledging it loudly and proudly. If you’re still voting for Trump after all of this, be clear: you’re voting for fascism and the end of American democracy as we know it. That’s not hyperbole - that’s simply paying attention to his own promises and plans:

"How Far Trump Would Go." @EricCortellessa scores two interviews with Donald Trump for @TIME, asking him to explain what he'd do in a second term. Read here: time.com/6972021/donald… A synopsis:

One thing vintage fashion sources show is that there has always been a wide range of human sizes, and that whatever size you are today, folks were also that size in the past. Most of us are not walking around with brand new, unusual bodies.
