Moneo, you speak to me of “stay-at-home moms” as though they are a niche demographic and not a fulcrum upon which the Golden Path quietly balances. They optimize small humans while your analysts chase metrics. Respect the unseen labor, or I will breed a generation of elite SAHMs.

@bobbyfijan AI disagrees, suggests shared walls are decisively cheaper even when considering maximal soundproof One thing it mentioned that I did not consider was the added cost of separate foundations

Strawberry Hill House Built in the 18th century by Horace Walpole, it is now considered one of the most beautiful examples of Gothic Revival architecture in England. What started as just a couple of cottages along the banks of the Thames has since transformed into something extraordinary.

people will ask: “Gregory, what radicalized you.” and I’ll say: “buying a 50 year old L.L. Bean polo that was made in the USA on eBay and it being higher quality than one I bought a few years ago.”

@buckthundaz I think onsite generation is starting to be required but I think it’s in the form of fossil fuels. No way to get that level of power on that small of a footprint with solar and/or wind…

Should we be requiring all data centers to be built underground creating parks and amenities for the community above them? Does this make sense?

Before ----> After What we did: (last one is most fun!) - better lighting - carry cabs up to ceiling (no more dust bunny shelf) - walnut soffit gives visual continuity and place for lighting - flat front grain matched walnut cabs - easier to clean, less visual cluttet - full backsplash (4" turn up looks cheap/low effort) - 6" German oak floors instead of cheap vinyl - larger window - in corner since that's the least useful spot for uppers, and that's where the view is - sink centered on window pane not window mullion - no microwave vent hood (they don't work well, they're ugly, and they are hard for shorter people to use) - added island seating with prep sink - intentional alignments, rigorous attention to spacing and sizing - 38" high counters - these homeowners are both tall!
