Makerfield was Andy Burnham’s back up plan. For Robert Kenyon, it’s his home. This battle will be David Vs Goliath.

@nicholadrummond I wondered if sitting in storage in the US 🇺🇸 are them WW2 era quad mounted 50 calibre machine guns ? Would they not be an anti drone gun system. If you could team them up with a smart sight for spotting/ tracking drones .

The Gepard 35 mm air defence system was developed in the 1960s and fielded in the 1970s. It’s an analog system operating in a digital world. No matter. It is the ideal system for knocking down drones of all sizes. It continues to operate like clockwork. The designers got the calibre right. 35 mm is the perfect balance between lethality, effective range, and cost per kill. Developed by Porsche, the Leopard I chassis on which it sits is robust, dependable, and easy to maintain. In fact, Gepard is an object lesson for the designers of all military hardware: when you get it right, it lasts forever.

@DefenceHQ @RoyalAirForce It is a shame the RAF never operated a squadron or two, of the Hawk 200, these would have suited that aircraft perfectly. When looking for a low cost low overhead capability.

Unguided rocket + laser = low cost drone killer 💥 The Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) will be fitted to @royalairforce Typhoon fighter jets this May. The APKWS can destroy targets precisely and at a fraction of the price of missiles currently used.

@Telegraph But they are being used on a expensive aircraft, if the RAF had bought Hawk 200 it would have been a perfect fit.

@MarkOrmrod I think, we should start with a national police force, maybe just to support the local police force. Then if you do ok you can do one of the armed services. And if you do not comply, then your on litter picking / poo 💩 picking duty.

The RAF has deployed a new anti-drone weapon over the Middle East, built by BAE Systems and tested at QinetiQ ranges, going from development to combat operations in under two months.

Most independent evidence (OBR, NBER, LSE, etc.) suggests Brexit has made Britain poorer than it would otherwise have been had we remained in the EU single market. The core issue was never “leaving Europe,” but leaving the single market itself. That created major non-tariff trade barriers with our largest and closest trading partners, increasing costs, paperwork, delays, and regulatory complexity for exporters. Brexit did deliver legal sovereignty and some regulatory freedom in areas such as fintech, AI, procurement, and life sciences. But these gains have so far been modest and unevenly realised. In many sectors, UK firms must still comply with EU rules to sell into European markets, limiting the practical value of divergence. Claims that the UK is outperforming parts of the EU are also misleading. Much weaker European growth reflects separate issues such as energy costs, industrial decline, and Germany’s manufacturing slowdown, not Brexit success. Brexit has not been an unqualified disaster. But nor has it been an unqualified success. The uncomfortable truth is that its economic disadvantages appear, so far, to outweigh its practical gains.

@MahyarTousi Is it possible, he knows he will loose, if he goes for an election now or in the future. So he goes for a general election when he knows he will end up as the official opposition. Taking it that Reform are favs to win . So Starmer beats Tories for short money and Qudos .

These are tough election results for Labour and I’m sorry to all of those colleagues who have lost their seats. Keir Starmer won a mandate to change our country. We must get on with delivering that mandate - and show how politics can improve people’s lives for the better.

Should we stop immigrants from claiming benefits? Nearly 1.5 million immigrants received Universal Credit last year, according to new figures, prompting a major political row over welfare and immigration. Should access to benefits be tightened for immigrants?

@bayraktar_1love The Ukraine should look at the Rockwall OV10 Bronco, it had a rear cargo bay, so you can mount a rear facing gun, besides wing hard points for machine guns , plus they experimented with a turret cannon from the Cobra attack helicopter.

The cost of living is the number one issue families are facing at the moment. That's why we're going all out for cheap, clean, homegrown power that we control, to bring down energy bills for good.

UK: “About 8 million people live alone many could welcome a refugee into their home.” Government think tanks and the radical Left are now openly pushing to house asylum seekers inside private British homes. This was always the next step. They opened the borders. They filled the streets. Now they want them in your living room.
