@Noahpinion @AsymmetricBTC To be as fair as possible current government are actively trying to solve points 1, 2 and 5. It's slow progress but they are putting policies in place to try and resolve.

@FUDdaily The divide between those who can get an NHS dentist and those who can’t reminds me a bit of those who can get a council house.

I need some persuading that this is the crisis we are led to believe. I've not had any problems finding a private dentist, and even on my pathetically low income, I can afford the £25 a month for the basic service. There's no real reason why basic dental care should be free. The people who say they can't afford to go private seem to be the same ones who have at least one foreign holiday a year and don't think twice about pissing £30 away in the pub on Friday nights. There should be free emergency dental care available in hospitals for basic extractions, but everyone else can jog on.
UK Decline Statistics@UKDecline

🦷 The NHS Dental Collapse 🇬🇧 🔴 9 out of 10 NHS practices are no longer accepting new adult patients. 🔴 Over 2,000 NHS dentists have quit in the last two years alone. 🔴 23 million Britons face a "critical lack of access" to care. The era of free, accessible dentistry in the UK is nearly over. ✅ Verified British Dental Association/NHS Information Centre data 2026

@buildbikepaths @AaronBastani I'm not sure a full time degree would have been that much better. The big accountancy firms in Belfast are offering Queens and Ulster degrees taught alongside professional exams. Kids do junior work at £28K while studying but is that so bad if they get their professional exams?

Good to see ol’ Tory Brillo pad support what would be tens of billions of investment into secondary and higher education. We’re winning the debate 💪

@Gnomesopinions @AaronBastani The uni got paid, vice chancellor got his fat salary, the students got their Firsts, the employer got to say they were using their apprenticeship levy money and gaining qualified staff. Yet no real improvement in skills.

@Gnomesopinions @AaronBastani Funnily enough the uni was rated ‘Teaching Excellence Gold’ under the national system supposed to raise standards of courses. No one involved seemed to have any interest or incentive in understanding issues with the course or fixing them.

@Gnomesopinions @AaronBastani The uni taught mostly irrelevant theoretical material and did not apply it towards the actual discipline much at all. Every single student graduated with a First including one who I knew to copy paste their essays together from Google without citations.

@Gnomesopinions @AaronBastani Yep. I did something like that. In fairness I already had the job which had already given me the training required (not a huge skill ceiling for this one).

@buildbikepaths @AaronBastani About £5500 from London to Paris. About £786 each for 7 passengers. Which can land at Orly, rather than (RyanAir) Paris Moscow. Yes, not as cheap as it used to be but still, arguably, better than a commercial flight.

I really don’t see why arguing against private jets, as Zack Polanski has done, is particularly contentious - or even coded as ‘radical’. There are going to be shortages and it’s important to be fair in how that pans out. Fly business class! Hardly hell is it?

@AaronBastani We already have degree apprenticeships and regional colleges with foundation degrees you can upgrade to honours at university. Or at least we do in NI. Where's the debate? Like claiming victory over an open door.

@AaronBastani If there’s a group of you going somewhere it can be cheaper to rent a private plane than fly commercial.

@SimonMagus Don’t forget the value both of their NHS/employers pension, and their entitlement to state pension. These are often excluded from wealth statistics.

Your occasional reminder that if you have no debt and a fiver in your pocket you are wealthier than half the world's population. That Eton and Oxford educated doctor with £80k in student debt and a £500k mortgage has zero, less than zero, wealth.
Prem Sikka@premnsikka

Just 56 people hold more than the combined wealth of 27m Britons. The poorest Half have 4.6% of the wealth. Poorest 20% pay higher proportion of income in taxes than the richest 20%. Can't rebuild economy without equitable distribution of wealth. leftfootforward.org/2026/04/waging…

@mrianleslie Anyone who turns up to an ER claiming sickle cell should be given opioids without any testing to confirm, apparently. Surely there will be no second order consequences from this!

@BO3673 Heat pump dryers are vastly less repairable than a condensing dryer. You cannot easily clear out the exchanger unit when it fills with fluff after 5-10 years of constant use.

To wade in - you can use these without dumping moisture into the air or need a venting pipe, and they’re much cheaper to run, and they’re generally better and more consistent at drying clothes. Old tumble dryers are akin to drying clothes with an open fire - old, crap and dumb.
Sedd@SeddSezz

🚨Rush to buy tumble dryers after Miliband’s net zero ban Imminent law changes will see traditional tumble dryers phased out for Net Zero. Perhaps Mad Miliband should visit a 14th floor flat where a family of 4 do washing on a regular basis. Would he like to live in a place with several airers of damp washing, which damage children's health? Screw the Net Zero con. Screw this Miliband prick.

@treesey @TrevorPTweets @SkyNews I dont think UK law says if you feel a crime has been committed, a crime has been committed 😀 Feelings can just determine whether an actual, verified crime, is a hate crime. Otherwise I could just feel you are being hateful now, and have you arrested

@neilquinn @signulll Previous phones scratched pretty badly, got really hot in the sun/ charging. Battery life saw a nice bump. Weight down. And wide front camera is a big deal and sells the phone. It’s actually kind of self-marketing whenever you get it out to do a group selfie, everyone notices

@buildbikepaths @signulll It's almost identical to the 16 pro though? I mean it's like only 10% faster or something, largely the same cpu, and has some more scratch resistance.
