Thank you, Mr. President @officialABAT. It was erudite, pungent, thought-provoking and very incisive. Africa was held spellbound
Bola Ahmed Tinubu@officialABAT

Speaking at the Africa CEO Forum Presidential Panel yesterday evening in Kigali, I re-emphasised that Africa must put Africa first whilst creating opportunities for intra-Africa collaboration between our countries. Our continent cannot build scale by looking outward first. We must invest in one another, trade more with one another, build the corridors that connect our markets, ensure our innovative youthful population get the support they need, and give African businesses the confidence to expand across African borders. Nigeria’s reforms are not only about fixing yesterday. They are about preparing our economy to lead in the Africa of tomorrow. With AfCFTA, digital trade, shared infrastructure, stronger logistics, commodities exchange, and deeper private sector partnerships, we can turn Africa’s population and resources into real continental prosperity. The global risk and financial architecture must also give Africa a fair deal that recognises our local nuances and contexts. I thank my brother, President Paul Kagame, for his warm hospitality and for Rwanda’s continued leadership in showing what discipline, clarity and execution can do for development. Nigeria will continue to work with Rwanda and other African partners to build a continent that produces more, trades more, connects better, and competes with greater confidence in the world. Africa’s future will not be handed to us. We must build it, own it, and defend it together. ~ Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR

Today, I met with Local Government and LCDA Chairmen, alongside APC leaders across Lagos, ahead of the party primaries. We share a strong belief that Lagos must keep moving forward with leadership that listens and delivers for the people. Our strength has always come from staying connected to the grassroots and understanding the everyday realities of Lagosians. As I always say, the journey ahead is about service, trust, and building a Lagos where every LGA and LCDA has a fair opportunity to grow and succeed.

The denial of visa to The Chairman of BUA Abdul Samad Rabiu by the South African Government is an affront to Nigeria. They cannot have billions of dollars investment in our country and treat such a revered figure with rejection and contempt.Xenophobia is escalating from the streets to Governance. Its time to keep aside history and African brotherhood and deal with this matter squarely.

💬 "A citizen that pays taxes is a citizen. If you are not a taxpayer, and not exempted, then you are not a citizen." 🇳🇬 With that uncompromising definition, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, redefined the social contract from the main stage of the Africa CEO Forum Annual Summit in Kigali. ⚖️ The President spoke as a man who knows the file intimately. He had personally driven tax reform as Governor of Lagos State, transforming what was then a fiscally fragile sub-national into Nigeria's most autonomous fiscal jurisdiction. The architect of his current federal tax reform, Finance Minister Wale Edun, was sitting in the front row, the very person whose work has reshaped Nigeria's revenue architecture over the past three years. 🎯 Tinubu's argument was disarmingly direct. Nobody, anywhere in the world, wakes up wanting to pay taxes. Taxation is not friendly to the wealthy, to the middle class, or to the poor. And yet every citizen expects roads, hospitals, schools, pharmaceutical research, protection of the vulnerable and the country's children. The question that demanding citizens almost never answer, he noted with sharp irony, is the most basic one: who pays for it? You want a fine highway, but not through your land. You want a well-equipped hospital, but no taxes. The maths does not work, anywhere on earth. 📜 The historical wink was telling. His American interlocutor's ancestors, he reminded the room, famously threw the tea into the sea when they were taxed without representation. The lesson, in Tinubu's reading, is not that taxation is dangerous, it is that taxation creates demanding citizens. And demanding citizens, far from being a problem, are precisely what builds accountable states. The Covid-19 pandemic underscored just how strategic domestic fiscal capacity becomes when the world stops being predictable. 🌍 The deeper message lands squarely on the African Ownership agenda Kigali has been amplifying all week. Pan-African capitalism cannot be financed indefinitely from external loans, declining aid, or volatile commodity rents. It will be financed by African citizens, African corporations and African tax systems that have the political legitimacy to function. The unlock is fiscal sovereignty, and fiscal sovereignty starts with taxation. 🇷🇼 The question Kigali is putting on the table this week is no longer whether African states need to raise more revenue domestically. It is whether they will dare to ask their citizens to fund the future they say they want. #ACF2026 #AfricaCEOForum

I was pleased to meet with Managing Director of @IFC_org, Makthar Diop @Diop_IFC and his team in Kigali on the margins of the Africa CEO Forum. Nigeria welcomes IFC’s work in advancing a PPP infrastructure pipeline to help address our annual urban infrastructure gap of about $14 billion. This is the type of practical partnership our reforms are designed to unlock. From urban infrastructure to water, land transportation, energy access, MSME finance, and local currency solutions, we are building a framework that can move capital into real projects, create jobs, improve productivity, and strengthen regional connectivity with our neighbours. Nigeria is ready for serious capital, credible partners, and bankable projects. Under our Renewed Hope Agenda, we must turn ambition into delivery, and delivery into better lives for our people. I look forward to deepening this partnership with IFC and the @WorldBankGroup as we build infrastructure for growth, inclusion, and shared prosperity. #ACF26

BREAKING: Brand new details released about President Trump’s bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi. The White House says China is interested in buying more American oil while also agreeing with the U.S. that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon. Meanwhile, the Chinese government says Trump was told that Taiwan is the most important issue on the table for the communist country — and warns the future of U.S.-China ties depends on how it’s handled. When it comes to Iran, President Trump says he doesn’t need Xi’s help with ending the conflict. U.S. CEOs are also making pitches for expanded business ties during the ongoing meeting. @aishahhasnie with the latest.

This reminds me of the video I did for Seyi Makinde, advising him to leave the PDP. It’s too late for him now. Some of his supporters came for me, saying I knew nothing about Oyo State politics, that they were the ones on board, and that they had defeated Wike. They said they owned the party and that Wike couldn’t do anything. They’ve been in so much soft comfort that it made them think they knew more. In the end, they had to leave for APM, just as I advised, but I think they should have moved a long time ago. Maybe there’s something Seyi Makinde knows that we don’t, or some formula we’re not aware of, but there’s no way Seyi Makinde will become President of this country. As for the APM-PDP alliance clause he mentioned, I strongly believe he will still keep some of his boys in the PDP to contest for positions and tickets there. Maybe Wike won’t come back to take over Oyo PDP, because Seyi Makinde doesn’t want to leave the PDP in Oyo State completely for Wike. And for those saying Accord Party will collapse its structure for APM, that’s just a lie you tell yourself to feel better.

Just finished a high level strategic meeting with the Honorable Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, @fkeyamo, where far reaching discussions were held on practical solutions, national growth, and building a stronger, better Nigeria. While some people are busy spreading bitterness online, serious minds are sitting at the table discussing progress, infrastructure, investment, security, and the future of this country. Nigeria will not be built by noise makers. It will be built by people with vision, access, strategy, and the courage to work. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
