When the innovators tell us to abandon scholars like shaykh Fawzan, they expect us to refer back to mushrikoon juhhaal like this.
Look how he uses the incident of Ibn Umar seeking comfort from remembering the Messenger ﷺ to claim that it was the Messenger who relieved him through his action. The narration itself says “(Remember) whom you love the most”. Only a mushrik makes this connection and says the matter belongs to the Messenger ﷺ, setting him up as a Lord besides Allah سبحانه وتعالى.
Ibn Taymiyyah and ahlus sunnah are aware of this beautiful narration, there is no istighatha here. Ibn Umar rAa wasn’t calling upon the Messenger ﷺ, rather he was remembering him. It’s similar to a child remembering his mother in a time of distress. Rasulullah ﷺ is our father and he’s dearer to us than our own parents. The sahaba knew this, understood it and felt it better than any of us.
Then the mushrik continues and mentions hadith of the Messenger ﷺ (generally) conveying what has occurred and what is about to occur in the coming times and again somehow ties it to asking direct favours from the Messenger ﷺ. Only a mushrik makes this connection. عليه من الله ما يستحق
