Back when he pretended to livestream from New York and falsely claimed he had gone to China, I had already pointed out that his so-called “grooming evidence” chat logs were certainly fake—the sender could not possibly have been Kim Soo-hyun. They manufactured false evidence by editing or swapping profile pictures. If they were to hand over the phones and the original data, the truth would be exposed immediately. That’s why their only option is to destroy it. What’s even more absurd is that at the May 7 press conference, Boo Ji-seok claimed, “We have already submitted the materials truthfully.” That was clearly a lie. Now all they can say is, “The phone was lost.” What else is left for them to say? What disappoints me even more is the attitude of the media. In an incident of this magnitude, the media could and should have investigated and exposed GSR’s fabrications, thereby clarifying the truth. Yet for months, they have done nothing. Because of fake news, an artist was nearly driven to the brink, while the police and the media both chose collective inaction. That is why such incidents keep repeating.
