@LADowd Some people have never read the constitution and only bring it up when they think they can use it. Most times, they bring it up incorrectly.

You can’t change the goalposts from your original assertion that the Kimmel decision was a free speech violation. Do you admit that you’re wrong?
Mr. Cox@MrCox_CivicsGov

@LADowd I can promise you, elected officials on both sides of the aisle are increasingly violating the Constitution. The only question is whether we're going to all hold them all accountable. Far too many people make excuses when their side does it, which will only make things worse

On @MeetThePress: Trump says "the good parts of the economy are mine and the bad parts are Biden's." And he expects to get away with it. And among his base, he will. He says that "numerous places" have gasoline below $2 but the lowest state avg for regular gas is Mississippi at $2.65. It's true that oil and gasoline are down under Trump and it's true that a little of it is a change in policy, but only a little because policy takes a long time to impact actual production. The main driver of lower oil prices is fear of global recession due to Trump's trade wars. He's claiming great success with lower egg prices even though 1) the federal government has nothing to do with it and 2) while wholesale prices have come down fairly significantly, retail prices for supermarket shoppers have not. If you told a supermarket shopper that egg prices have plunged, she'd tell you you're crazy. Clearly Trump doesn't shop for his own eggs. He still claims that "tariffs are going to make us rich. " With that mindset, he should also support raising income taxes, payroll taxes, sales taxes, etc...every tax. You can't tax yourself into prosperity. He continues to act as if Americans aren't paying tariffs. He didn't back away at all from his statement that he'd be perfectly happy with consumers having fewer choices and higher prices when shopping (the example being dolls) because he thinks it's better not to buy from China. Trump said that he thinks the auto industry will "make a lot of money" because of tariffs. I think it won't play out that way. Yes, the price of cars will go up but fewer cars will be sold. I mean, that's pretty basic stuff, right? He repeated the claim that the manufacturers and retailers will "eat" the full amount of tariffs. There is simply no data to suggest that's true. Definitely they try to eat some to maintain market share but most businesses don't have the margins to cover all of a tariff, especially if it's over maybe 10%. Every time he talks about new large-scale investments in the US the number he claims will come in goes up. Now it's up to $9 trillion. It's not gonna happen. Will it be half that? Maybe. But I doubt it. If you were the CEO of a big corporation and had to make a multi-billion dollar decision about building a factory that you know will be less efficient than a factory built elsewhere (when you think about the total cost structure) would you go ahead, knowing that either Trump might change policy in a moment or that the Supreme Court will rule the tariffs illegal or that the next president might undo everything Trump is imposing by executive order? I REALLY want Trump's economic policies to succeed. And mostly his views, such as on taxes and regulation, are pro-growth. At the same time, some of his economic beliefs are remarkable for their lack of connection to reality.

Per grok Here are 20 red flags of corruption or concerns regarding the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), based on the information available: Lack of Bipartisanship: Despite being legally required to reflect the diversity of American society, NED is predominantly staffed and led by Democrats, which raises questions about its political neutrality. Political Discrimination: Allegations suggest that NED discriminates against Republicans and conservatives in hiring practices, potentially skewing its operations towards one political ideology. Duplication of Efforts: NED's activities often overlap with those of other U.S. government agencies, suggesting redundancy and potential inefficiency in the use of public funds. Lack of Transparency: Since 2021, NED has not updated its online database of grants, reducing the transparency of its funding allocations. Reduction in Reporting: NED ceased producing printable annual reports after 2017, opting for less detailed multimedia summaries, which might obscure detailed financial and operational transparency. Board Composition: As of late 2023, the NED board had more members than the legally mandated maximum, potentially affecting governance. Partisanship in Events and Activities: The organization's programs and events are often seen as favoring one political perspective over another, suggesting a lack of balance in promoting democratic ideals. CIA-like Operations: NED has been described as a continuation of the CIA's covert activities under a different guise, raising concerns about its true purpose and methods. Interference in Elections: NED has been accused of influencing election outcomes in countries like Bolivia by funding media and NGOs to highlight alleged election fraud by incumbent governments. Funding Opposition Movements: NED's support for opposition groups in various countries, often in line with U.S. foreign policy, can be seen as interference in domestic politics. Manipulation of Narratives: There are claims that NED manipulates public opinion by funding media outlets and NGOs that promote narratives favorable to U.S. interests. Undesirable NGO Status: Russia labeled NED as an "undesirable" organization in 2015, highlighting concerns over foreign interference in domestic affairs. Historical Ties to CIA: The origins of NED as a response to expose CIA activities suggest a continuity in strategic objectives despite changes in operation from covert to overt. Funding of Anti-Government Protests: NED has been linked to funding protests and opposition movements, like those during the Euromaidan in Ukraine, which could destabilize countries. Selective Democracy Support: NED tends to support "democracy activists" in countries where U.S. geopolitical interests are at stake, questioning the purity of its democratic motives. Infiltration and Subversion: Accusations of NED engaging in subversive activities, including ideological infiltration in regions like Europe and Latin America. Support for "Color Revolutions": NED's involvement in various "color revolutions" worldwide indicates a strategic use of democracy promotion for geopolitical gain. Lack of Accountability: There's a call for oversight and investigation into NED's operations, particularly its role in censoring U.S. citizens and its hiring practices. Funding of Controversial NGOs: NED has funded organizations with controversial agendas or methods, raising ethical questions about the nature of the "democracy" it promotes. Strategic Autonomy Suppression: In Europe, NED has been accused of suppressing voices for strategic autonomy in favor of transatlanticism, manipulating EU policy. These red flags suggest areas where NED's activities might not align with its mission to promote democracy or could be indicative of broader geopolitical strategies rather than pure democratic support.
