Hate speech has exploded on Twitter in the last year, and as the company has fired both content moderators and security experts, user data is also deeply at risk. I asked @linakhanFTC to address this, along with the efforts the FTC is making to hold Twitter accountable:

BREAKING: Georgia State Representative Mesha Mainor stabs her constituents deep in the back and announces that she will be flipping from Democrat to Republican — a stunning betrayal as MAGA grows more fascist by the day. The worst part was the way in which she tried to defend her shameful decision... Mainor, who represents a blue district, claimed that her switch "wasn't a political decision" but was instead a "MORAL one." Of course, no moral person would jump ship from the Democrats — who stand up for average Americans and fight climate change — to the Republicans, who exist solely to funnel more wealth to the super rich. "I will NEVER apologize for being a black woman with a mind of my own," Mainor went on, as if her being Black somehow absolves her of her atrocious decision. It's not that Mainor can't be a Republican as a Black woman, it's that no moral politician of any race should be a Republican. "I didn’t leave the Democrat Party,” Mainor said before going on to whine about inane right-wing talking points like "left-wing radicalism" and "lawlessness." A Republican complaining about "lawlessness" is a particularly rich line of attack given the fact that the party's leader Donald Trump attempted an insurrectionist coup and is currently under federal indictment. Mainor told Fox News that Democrats "crucified" and "abandoned" her after she supported so-called "school choice," which is really just a conservative scheme to suck money out of the public education system and funnel it to the rich. She is an absolute disgrace, a despicable traitor, and voters in her district must ditch her next election. It's clear that she is nothing but a cynical careerist who thinks that the Republican Party will lead to more wealth and political power.
