Huge congratulations to TradeXYZ and S&P for this historic partnership. I'm honored that these teams choose to build on Hyperliquid. Seeing official S&P500 perpetual futures launch exclusively on Hyperliquid is a validation of everyone's past years of hard work: global access to decentralized finance, perpetual futures as 24/7 price discovery, and Hyperliquid upgrading the existing financial stack to house all of finance. The S&P500 is synonymous with "the market," a single number that captures the essence of the largest economy in the world. Looking forward to tracking the world's most important financial gauge 24/7 on the most liquid permissionless markets.

The default funding rate for crypto perps has remained unchanged at 0.01% / 8 hours since Bitmex first introduced the mechanism in 2016. Now that trade[XYZ] has introduced equity perps, it’s time to rethink this baseline. Borrow rates for traditional asset classes are closer to SOFR + 1-2%, and so today, we are reducing the funding rate across all XYZ markets by applying a scaling factor of 0.5 to Hyperliquid’s funding rate formula. This lowers baseline funding to ~5.5% annualized and results in less aggressive funding during weekend price discovery as well. Growth Mode Activated. Trading fees on all XYZ assets have been reduced by 90%. The highest fee tier is now less than 0.009%. A new user trading $1,000 of any XYZ asset will pay ~9 cents as a taker and less than ~3 cents as a maker. XYZ assets are now the cheapest way to access equity perps, any place, anytime.

again, please read the docs. oracle price is not used for liquidations, mark price is. oracle price gapping will impact funding, but will not in itself trigger liquidations. if external price gaps and the market perceives that as true fair, then the book should quickly trade towards it. mark price will thus adjust. If mark price moves quickly and there is not enough liquidity to absorb liquidations, ADL may be triggered, which is expected behavior and there is no bad debt.

Can someone explain how @tradexyz is handling pre market/post market pricing, and gapping? Worry is oracle pricing and the gapping leading to bad debt for the protocol/hip3 as people get liquidated well past their liquidation price on volatile days?

What we are trying to do (whether we succeed or fail) is a small but true step function evolution in finance. Perpetual equity futures are a novel financial instrument. One which, we believe, have the potential to disrupt capital markets as stablecoins did to the payments space, or as prediction markets did for binary events, notably politics. Yesterday we witnessed a glimpse of what this could become. Toward the end of the weekend, XYZ100 persisted a small move to the upside. Smart traders bid (above the oracle price), willing to pay the funding over several hours which they bet (correctly) would be exceeded by the returns of a higher fair after external markets opened. Friday closed ~$25,360. On Sunday 4pm est, the most accurately priced venue in the world may have been XYZ100 on @HyperliquidX at ~$25,460. CME was the first traditional venue with a correlated asset to open 1-2 hr later. It opened +80 bps from prev close, confirming the direction and extending the move discovered over the weekend. Obviously this discovery has been minuscule thus far - not yet significant to affect other markets in any real sense - but it's exciting to see the direction of something so highly anticipated @tradexyz There's a long road ahead.
