Seriously considering downgrading to Max 5x to put some limits on myself. I absolutely am addicted to Claude. My poor Codex account expires each week above 95%, that can probably be decreased to a plus account as well. For a normie+ like me who isn’t juggling multiple repos and is just hobby building these products are quite honestly so incredibly powerful and useful, but addictive as well. I feel like this will become more and more of an issue with people becoming addicted to building things that are fun, but ultimately probably not the healthiest use of your time.

@arvidkahl Whatever you’re doing that requires optimizing is what you build a skill for. Using someone else’s skill is like trying to cook on someone else’s kitchen. Stop looking for a problem for a solution, create a solution for your problem.

The discovery of Claude skills still is an unsolved problem. I learn of the most insane high-impact skills from throwaway mentions in some reply somewhere. My mobile browser is full of links like these. What’s the most impressive Claude skill you’ve ever installed?

@maxmarchione One day you will take it off, rest it on the table, take a long look at it. And that will be the last time you ever wore it.

I just bought an Apple watch to get rid of my phone most of the day. The watch has no notifications. I keep my phone far away from, including in the morning and at night. The watch has credit cards, keys, podcasts, and that's it. This already feels like a life hack.

nice my todo list is a knowledge graph that runs on a VPS, syncs to obsidian on my phone, has a specialized agent that reads it every session, auto-refreshes a dashboard from live project files, and sends me proactive signals when something's going stale, it also has location tracking to remind me of things when it sees me in places it knows still forget to buy dog food

Here is a little trick: I don't use a TODO app. I use a pinned Codex thread for my long-running TODO. The initial system prompt is to create a master TODO.md and keep it updated with items added by date, etc. It's natural intelligence for my tasks, and it's been very useful so far.

🚨 OpenAI charges $0.006/minute. Google charges $0.024. AWS charges $0.024. Someone just open sourced a tool that does it for $0. And it's faster than all of them. It's called Insanely Fast Whisper. And that's not hype. That's the benchmark. 150 minutes of audio. 98 seconds to transcribe. On your own machine. No API key. No cloud. No per-minute billing. Here's what the numbers look like: → Whisper Large v3 + Flash Attention 2: 150 min of audio in 98 seconds → Distil Whisper + Flash Attention 2: 150 min in 78 seconds → Standard Whisper without optimization: 31 minutes for the same job → That's a 19x speedup. Same model. Same accuracy. Just faster. Here's what it does: → One command to transcribe any audio file or URL → Speaker diarization — knows WHO said WHAT → Transcription AND translation to other languages → Runs on NVIDIA GPUs and Mac (Apple Silicon) → Flash Attention 2 for maximum speed → Clean JSON output with timestamps → Works with every Whisper model variant Here's the wildest part: Otter.ai charges $100/year. Rev charges $1.50/minute. Descript charges $24/month. Enterprise transcription contracts cost thousands. Podcasters, journalists, researchers, lawyers, content creators — anyone still paying for transcription is lighting money on fire. 8.8K GitHub stars. 633 forks. MIT License. 100% Open Source. My daily driver Codex 5.3 isn't using tools in @OpenClawAI. Transcript shows zero tool_use - just text claiming "Done ✓" while nothing actually executes. Recalibrated all workspace persona files. Sonnet/Opus in the same session, same workspace, same tools: works perfectly. Is the Responses API path passing tool definitions through? cc @steipete

I’m a fan of the obsidian ethos and respect them a lot, but tbh after notion enticed me with the possibilities only to realize it was a huge rabbit hole, I just couldn’t get into obsidian. With AI coding, what does obsidian bring to the table that I can’t do on my own with tailscale, my NAS and markdown files? Seeing a ton of people praising obsidian in the loop but I’m not understanding what is the magic.

My wife and I were talking the other day about potential career options for my 15 yrs old daughter who really struggles in school and is likely not college bound/material. For guys it’s easy… Don’t want to go to college, pick a trade or figure something else out such as a police officer, firefighter etc. It’s not as easy for girls. I think she would do well in sales since she is attractive, has the personality and is extremely social (spends hours everyday talking on the phone to all her friends). For parents with daughters who aren’t on the college path…what are some real, high-income career options you’ve seen work?

my setup is even better: VPS-hosted Obsidian “Hivemind” synced through iCloud/Syncthing, Claude Code + Codex agents running against the same memory graph, Telegram command layer for execution, live dashboards for ops/today view, real-time location context, and API rails for Google (Calendar/Gmail/Drive/Places), weather, maps, and travel flows. private, automated, and built for zero-friction daily ops.

Lately, whenever I open this app and see the latest tricks, and hacks, and notes, and workflows, and spec here and skill there, I can't help but think: All of this will be washed away by the models. Every Markdown file that's precious to you right now will be gone.
