Did you know? 🇫🇷 In France, former President Nicolas Sarkozy was jailed for abuse of power and illicit campaign financing, becoming the first post-war French president to actually taste prison. Imagine that! What you do with this information is up to you #Accountability #RuleOfLaw

Macron in Kenya 🇰🇪 said that only the putschists in the Sahel were absent. Tell him that our leaders are no puppets and will in no way sit among all the puppets he summoned there. General Tiani @NIGER_CNSP was busy taking a road tour to meet his people.

Good morning patriots. Here is your morning dose of reflection addressed to @bienaimesol and those who believe in the gospel of "presence is not submission" thing. So Bien says the leopard skin was for Patrice Lumumba. And now his defenders are saying he was actually sending a message to the French. A bold, symbolic, Pan-African statement. Right there in the room. Let us think about that. Lumumba was murdered. Arranged by Belgium. Supported by Western powers. Covered up for decades. The man died because he refused to let Congo be eaten by the same people who had colonised it. That is who Bien was supposedly honouring. But here is the problem. Lumumba did not whisper his resistance in the master's house while smiling for photos. He said it loudly, publicly, directly to their faces and paid for it with his life. His message was unmistakable. Nobody needed to explain it after the fact on Instagram stories. If Bien was sending a message to the French, the French did not receive it. The smiles happened. The content was made. And Macron went home with exactly what he came for warm, friendly, beloved Kenyan faces making his visit look like a celebration rather than what it actually was. He went home with the full assurance that his next target was ripe for dinner. A message that the target never receives is not a message. It is a thought you had privately while doing the opposite. And to those saying Bien was being symbolic symbols only work when they are understood in the room. Wearing Lumumba's spirit into a French PR event and then explaining it on Instagram the next day is not symbolism. That is a caption. Dismas wa Tabu. Dreaming in installments. Billed in full

Today, a CIA whistleblower sat before my committee and confirmed what I've said for years: government officials, including Dr. Fauci, deliberately misled the American people about the origins of COVID-19. This is not a conspiracy theory. This is sworn testimony. 🧵

Dear @bienaimesol "Presence is not submission" is a great line. But the African chiefs who signed away our land to colonialists were also just "present at a meeting." Didn't end well for us. This is France we're talking about. The same France that still forces 14 African countries to pay them money every year for being colonized. They named their summit "Africa Forward", forward into whose pocket exactly? They didn't call you because they value your African voice. They called you because nothing makes an exploitation party look innocent like a talented African bald man with a guitar and a big smile. You were the decoration. The proof that everything was fine. The vibe. While you performed, the real business was happening in the next room and your presence told the world "don't worry, the Africans are happy." Now we all love you Bien. Nobody wants to say it. But when you're the only African smiling that hard in a room full of French officials, Uncle Ruckus starts feeling like a close relative. The man also believed he was simply "building bridges." You were not a guest at that table my friend. You were the entertainment. There's a difference between having a seat at the table and being served *as* the meal. Next time find out which one you are before you tune your guitar. Dismas wa Tabu. Dreaming in installments. To those dismissing odious debt as theory, history says otherwise. Mozambique challenged hidden loans in court. Ecuador audited and repudiated illegitimate debt. Iraq secured massive debt cancellation after Saddam. Cuba rejected colonial debt imposed without consent. South Africa resisted apartheid-era obligations tied to oppression. Odious debt is not fiction. It is a principle backed by precedent, law, and the sovereign right of people not to finance corruption, repression, and theft. Kenyans cannot be forced to repay debts they neither approved nor benefited from.

One does not credit enough the role that musicians and artists played in the political awakening in French dominated Africa. One of the things that forged my political consciousness and determination the most has been songs from African artists from Burkina Faso to Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Togo, Cameroon. There was a whole discography of politically engaged musicians in the early to late 2000s calling out systemic repression, pillage, the extractive nature of the CFA model, colonial debt, and the partitioning of Africa. We do not credit them enough. It is unfortunate that because of our linguistic segregation through colonialism, the beauty of such art remains constrained to only one part of Africa. It is magnificent. I can list, off the top of my head, at least 30 songs that inspired, shaped and drove me, and I am going to share some of them in this thread.
