Microsoft has confirmed that the Windows 11 update KB5089549 fails to install on certain devices. The issue affects systems with critically low free space on the EFI System Partition (typically 10 MB or less). The update downloads and begins installing but fails during the restart phase at around 35–36% complete. Windows then rolls back the changes and displays error code 0x800f0922. Microsoft has provided two official workarounds: >Registry modification Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run the following command: reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Bfsvc" /v EspPaddingPercent /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f Restart your computer and retry installing the update. >Known Issue Rollback: Microsoft is automatically deploying a server-side mitigation. Restarting your device multiple times can help activate it faster and allow the update to install successfully. A permanent fix will be included in a future cumulative update. Be sure to back up your registry or create a system restore point before making any registry changes.

I then have to force the packet manager to pull the actual Firefox binary instead of the snap one. They managed to inject snap straight into the aptitude packet manager

Canonical isn’t forcing snaps. They use them by default. Like any other default in any Linux distro, you can change that if you want. This notion that canonical is forcing snaps is absurd. I’ve seen precisely one message about Ubuntu Pro in the terminal, I dismissed it and I’ve never seen it again. The notion that Canonical is “spamming” users with ads is also absurd. Don’t like Ubuntu’s defaults? Totally valid. You like the defaults of another distro better? Also valid. But give the anti-Canonical rhetoric a rest.

Since Canonical keeps making anti-Linux decisions, it's getting ridiculous. They are forcing Snaps on everything (even Firefox via apt), spam terminal with Ubuntu Pro ads, and the Snap Store keeps letting malware through. This isn't the Ubuntu we loved anymore. It's turning corporate. Time to switch. I am planning to go with fedora or something else

This function has a NULL check. GCC at -O2 can remove it. not a bug the C standard allows it. under optimization, that if-check may not survive to the binary.
