Yesterday, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum swore under oath that Trump's Arch was "not even a proposal," claiming it was just a "discussion." Today, @RepHuffman was standing in front of the industrial drilling rig starting work on it.

Trump to Xi: “We're going to have a fantastic future together. I have such respect for China. The job you've done. You're a great leader…It’s an honor to be with you. It’s an honor to be your friend” (Compare this to how Trump talks about President Zelenskyy and America’s closest allies in Europe)

1/ 1/ Just back from Turku, Finland — 200 miles from Russia — where I spoke at the Baltic Sea Region Forum. The room: intelligence officers, diplomats, and cabinet officials from Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania. What I told them as an American was painful but necessary. A thread.

The Credit Cycle Melt UP and Coming Crash 🧵 We have seen one of the greatest melt ups in US history since the 2022 lows, as we begin entering unknown territory of the highest valuations in human history The melt up isn't driven by europhoria or sentiment, it is driven by liquidity and credit that is directly linked to the AI retooling occurring in the financial market and underlying economy This thread is meant to be a complete breakdown of HOW to think about what is happening, and WHEN risks begin to build that will cause the next bear market 🧵

Sounds like another threat. Keeping in mind how the US has undermined the UN in every turn, turned the Strait of Hormuz into a war chokepoint without a UN mandate. Cooperation might exist if the US itself didn't behave like a bull in a china shop. Moreover, the current US administration shows no consistency in defending the good against evil. In the UN General Assembly Ukraine resolution votes, the US has abstained and voted against (together with Russia) the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resolution condemning attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. But now, the international community must help the US finish what it started without consulting anyone—the good old exceptionalism.

SECRETARY RUBIO: We’re asking the UN to call on Iran to stop blowing up ships, remove the mines, and allow humanitarian relief. If the international community can’t rally behind this and solve something so straightforward, then I don’t know what the utility of the UN system is.

I have been quiet long enough. This is perhaps the most important thread on X ever published. And the most powerful and impactful comic book you will ever read. If you want to understand the reverse carry trade, bookmark this. Oil, Yen, Japan, and an all-star cast. 1/24🧵👇

When Trump pulled out of the international nuclear agreement with Tehran in 2018, Iran lacked even a single bomb's worth of uranium. Since then, it accumulated 22,000 pounds of enriched uranium. @BlackiLi @WilliamJBroad nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Trump has joined with Russia and China to oppose a resolution that called Putin's invasion of Ukraine an act of "aggression." Now why would Trump be worried about condemning aggression? trib.al/THIJtTz

Canada : you wonder why Trump is acting the way it does? Constantly making the decision that benefits Russia, even to the detriment of the USA and -always- to the detriment of its allies like Canada? This Guardian exclusive explains it all : "Vladimir Putin personally authorised a secret spy agency operation to support a “mentally unstable” Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election... according to what are assessed to be leaked Kremlin documents." "There is also apparent confirmation that the Kremlin possesses kompromat, or potentially compromising material, on the future president, collected – the document says – from Trump’s earlier “non-official visits to Russian Federation territory”." "There is a brief psychological assessment of Trump, who is described as an “impulsive, mentally unstable and unbalanced individual who suffers from an inferiority complex”." TRUMP, TO THIS DAY, WHO SUES EVERYBODY AND THEIR MOTHER, HAS NEVER SUED THE GUARDIAN. #Trump #Russia #cdnpoli #euronews theguardian.com/world/2021/jul…

If you stack the credit cycle, liquidity, AND positioning all together and connect it to the actual price action of the market, then you can have an informed view for WHERE we are going 🧵 Notice that geopolitical risk has collapsed in its impact on equities. I am not saying the actual risk of changes in the event has collapsed. You can continue speculating about ships in the little bathtub. What I am saying is that the market is saying that the IMPACT matters very little now.

North Korea has 50 nuclear bombs and enough material to build 40-50 more. It has 20 delivery systems including ICBMs that reach the US. Denuclearization has failed across 7 US administrations, Time for a new strategy, writes Victor Cha in FA. 1/

The rest of the planet has stopped waiting for America to get its act together – and just got on with it. Mexico and Spain reset relations after 8 years. Hungary dumped Orbán. Europe’s rolling out an €800B defence rebuild that cuts out US contractors. Meanwhile, the biggest trade deal in history gets signed and America isn’t even at the table. Canada, Aus, UK, EU, India, Brazil… quietly building a new order from the wreckage of the old one. And China? Record trade surplus – $1.2 trillion. Trump’s Tariffs backfired so hard Beijing just posted its biggest export year ever. While the tangerine wrecking ball smashes America’s global standing The rest of the world is busy building what comes next. The world isn’t stalling anymore for that Mango Mussolini – it’s rerouting.
