This June, we'll be back at Finzean watermills, repairing these largely timber mill buildings.
We'd love for you to join us (7-11 June) -- no prior experience needed!

URGENT - we have discovered that KMS Estates Ltd are attempting to fast track demolition of Mappin's Coffee House, bypassing the planning process underway. This important building could be lost in days unless @SheffCouncil intervenes with an Article 4 direction to protect it.

Ancient Egyptian details at the Grade I listed Temple Works in Leeds where we’re currently on site.
Based on the temple of Horus at Edfu in Egypt, the design acknowledges Egypt’s role in the flax industry.
We're working with Ceg thanks to funding from @HistoricEngland

Happy new year! Did you see that we released series 2 of our podcast Heart to Hearth over the break? There are 10 episodes full of fascinating chats with people who care for our vernacular buildings. Listen here or wherever you get your podcasts: heart-to-hearth.simplecast.com

A car became wedged between Sheffield Children's Hospital and a wall after crashing off the road.
The vehicle ended up resting on its front bumper in the gap between the building and the street.

Come and join the next #masscycleride in September - great way to keep active, reduce air pollution, spread awareness for safer cycling infrastructure and meet new people!

English

@Volcanic_Ash24 @MRaoufNES I would agree, but removing rat runs and making back streets safer for pedestrians / cycling etc. is a good place to start.
English

@cahil91 @MRaoufNES I got a lift back from my father, I normally walk both ways to the game. The biggest issue is during the week where you have no option but to sit in traffic and no option to bypass it… and as I said for that I can’t leave the vehicle at home. Sheffield is awful to travel around.
English

Congrats @MRaoufNES on creating more pollution for the area by closing Little London Road. Favouring the few over the many, great quality for a politician 👏🏻 Every day the roads in the area are bad.
Directly effecting me and I can’t even vote you out when the time comes.

English

@Volcanic_Ash24 @MRaoufNES Fair enough for halving the journeys made by car and I’m not preaching, maybe just enjoying the nice weather and walking both ways or going by bus May just be a better option, that’s all
English

@cahil91 @MRaoufNES I walked to the match and a got lift home. I mean I’d love to do that during the 5 work days but it’s impossible due to the work I do but you seem to know everything so by all means I’ll have to listen to your infinite wisdom and the van at home.

@MRaoufNES And as a green party councillor surely you should be championing the creative / adaptive re-use of the building rather than demolition? A ban on total demolition of existing buildings would be a good place to start rather than rallying for carbon intensive proposals...
English

@cahil91 It is an idea that has been mooted and I would be happy to support as an alternative to non-demolition

Most of listed buildings in #Sheffield are #GradeII, some of ones in city centre are below. The #JohnLewis building is the worst example of a 20th C building in our centre. We should be knocking it down and turning it into a park for the enjoyment of the people of Sheffield

@JWNairn Just wondering if anyone (@JordanConserv and @slateroof2) knows where the slate came from for this roof and is the staining pyrite or something else?
English

@ianjpennington The fat cat, a great historic CAMRA pub as well, hope you popped in for a beer?

Such a relief to see that the world hadn't ended with modal filters installed around Kelham Island on my visit to #Sheffield last Saturday.
In fact, the area's businesses were hugely benefitting 🍻
