🚧 Sadly we were too late to save the former Body Shop headquarters in Littlehampton, West Sussex. Designed in a Japanese pagoda style by architects Michael Cook Associates (1990), it contained wildly themed interiors, was built from sustainably sourced timber, and was reputedly the first office in Britain to have a purpose-built creche. A perfect candidate for reuse, demolition is already under way to create a retail village. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Today is Divine Mercy Sunday. Glass by Tom Denny, 2018, at St Felix, Felixstowe, Suffolk, depicts Christ the Divine Mercy. 1/2 #StainedGlassSunday

Very niche question. Anyone have info on the claim some church monument effigies are small because they represent someone who died before their father (misogyny of this noted) - here, Youlgreave, Derbyshire:

@LoveOfGates many many fine examples in Oxford, as would be expected I love the delicate gates of a similar date at Trinity (by Thomas Robinson), but they are somewhat overshadowed by the enormous baroque gatepiers!

On holiday in York & family miffed as to why I am so *fixated* on having lunch specifically at ASK Italian No real reason of course, but as an aside it happens to be in the Assembly Rooms designed by Lord Burlington - built 1730s (received the all knowing look from my wife…)

@choir_christ Yes bizarrely they have the whole thing. It is rather cavernous for a restaurant, but does mean it’s happily accessible everyday!

@JWNairn Lord Burlington should have commissioned some art for that bland ceiling.

@JWNairn We are blessed that the restaurant in the Assembly Rooms is affordable to everyone. May I add my own F&B recommendation ? The fourth floor cafe at Marks & Spencer. It has a stunning full side elevation view of the Minster. The best view in York IMO

@Bowermanland I think they saw right through me as soon as I entered - looking at ceiling instead of menu etc.
