@ACT_CHS @ACSQHC Part of research project, did interviews with stakeholders at all levels, patients, physio, surgeons: all agree this a very good patient centred model of care. Problem is funding mechanisms: sometimes just referring to surgeon for advice due to blockages elsewhere. #BetterCare

Lumbar spine imaging reports frequently include findings unlikely to be clinically important without explicitly qualifying that they are benign. More work for our radiology colleagues. For easy clinical wins, pay reference to the normal!! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38478495/

🧵I mourn the tragic, brutal deaths of people in Israel at the hands of Hamas and the tragic, brutal Palestinian deaths from bombings by Israeli military forces.

“Not one square metre was lost by an Australian as a result of Mabo and Wik...yet there was a ferocious campaign of fear and misrepresentation,” says Noel Pearson. “I would remind Australians about the great gulf between the scare campaign and the truth.” satpa.pe/vlOd47L

In 1996, Perdue launched OxyContin, the pill that would ignite the opioid crisis - an explosion in drug use that has shaved years off US life expectancy. Many of those scripts were written for back pain. Today, we discover they probably never worked

The RESTORE trial just out in the 'The Lancet'. This trial brings hope to people disabled by low back pain. It puts the patient in the drivers seat, with skills to self-manage...it works, it save $$ and they like it. Massive team effort led by Peter Kent. thelancet.com/journals/lance…

@PeteOSullivanPT @CGMMaher @ACSQHC We have been trying to implement in ED since its release and waging a constant battle against opioid prescription. Rates of appropriate imaging have improved though.

@dougbeall @JacobFlemingMD @radfugee @ScottTruhlar @northwoods1980 @neuroradiology Nope I mean what I already said 👇 No difference at most time points between groups.
Caitlin Farmer PhD@caitfarmer

@dougbeall @JacobFlemingMD @radfugee @ScottTruhlar @northwoods1980 @neuroradiology If I was a patient I’d want better than a difference of <5% on the ODI at 3/12 (and no difference at 6 or 12) and at best about 0.7 on a 0-10 VAS (in 6 months time) compared with sham, but that’s just me 🤷🏼‍♀️
