15 weird London AI companies you've probably never heard of London's AI scene isn't just chatbots and SaaS. Some genuinely strange stuff happening. @PrimaMente – building "foundation models for the brain" to study Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Hologen – frontier medical AI spinout tied to UCL/King's. Eric Schmidt involved. hologen.ai @baseimmune – AI-designed vaccines targeting rapidly mutating viruses. @RecursionPharma / @valence_ai – AI drug discovery platform combining chemistry, biology and machine learning. @CausalyAI – AI that reads scientific papers and maps biomedical knowledge graphs. Fractile – building new AI chip architecture. fractile.ai @mindgard – "red teaming" AI models to find vulnerabilities. @Limbic_ai – mental health triage AI used in NHS services. @LindusHealth – clinical trials run with AI infrastructure. Anima Health – AI triage platform for healthcare providers. animahealth.com AUAR – robots that build buildings. AI for automated construction. auar.io @testudoglobal – insurance for the AI economy. Isomorphic Labs – DeepMind spinout doing AI drug discovery. isomorphiclabs.com BenevolentAI – one of the earliest AI drug discovery companies. benevolent.com London AI ecosystem is weirder than people think. Still mapping more. Comment any i've missed so far. londonmaxxxing.com

@ylecun @mmbronstein I don’t share your same pessimistic view on LLMs, but I’m really curious to see what AMI will discover

7/7 So LLMs taught me to focus on: – How many facts I actually have (the internet creates illusions and context switching lowers efficiency). – Clear reasoning as a trainable skill. – Context management, so my reasoning is not poisoned by noise or imbalance.

6/7 Level 3: Context Management. Modern LLMs have facts and reasoning. What is missing? Each reasoning step needs context: the minimum set of facts required to complete it. Too many facts, or the wrong ones, become the next problem.

1/7 What have LLMs taught me about intelligence? Level 1: Facts The first GPT-3 showed me that I can have an immense collection of facts in my head and still not be perceived as smart or intelligent.

Finding myself going back to RSS/Atom feeds a lot more recently. There's a lot more higher quality longform and a lot less slop intended to provoke. Any product that happens to look a bit different today but that has fundamentally the same incentive structures will eventually converge to the same black hole at the center of gravity well. We should bring back RSS - it's open, pervasive, hackable. Download a client, e.g. NetNewsWire (or vibe code one) Cold start: example of getting off the ground, here is a list of 92 RSS feeds of blogs that were most popular on HN in 2025: gist.github.com/emschwartz/e6d… Works great and you will lose a lot fewer brain cells. I don't know, something has to change.

Dear “15-18 yo founder”s sending me DMs, don’t. Go and hug your parents, fall in love, eat chocolate cereal for breakfast, read poetry. Nobody will give you back these years. And sure, do your homework and learn math and code if that feels fun. But stop building SaaS and hustling. Even if career is what you are optimizing for, this is not the way. You need deep education that will withstand automation. You need to sit with linear algebra and probability theory and philosophy and literature. It won’t get you go viral on X but it’ll make you whole. And mute all the SF performative assholes. Oooops sorry this last one was a note to self.
