In a following paper, we apply this method to real 5D data, finding new likely members of known substructures. Thanks to @amina_helmi and the group at the Kapteyn Institute for your comments and support!

We test our methodology on 6D samples and show that our vlos predictions and membership probabilities are statistically accurate. For most groups, high-purity samples CAN be selected from 5D data, with a statistical trade-off between selecting purity and completeness.

Paper Day! arxiv.org/abs/2405.10168 We have developed a method to infer the likely line-of-sight velocity (vlos), dynamics, and substructure membership of 5D stars within 2.5kpc of the sun.

Paper day: arxiv.org/abs/2404.11604 We show that Gaia BH3 is part of the ED-2 star cluster. The update astrometry puts GaiaBH3 in excellent agreement with the orbit of ED-2. Using some @ESO data we got last period we also show that ED-2 is very likely a disrupted globular cluster

Richard Bower was energetic, brilliant, kind and undoubtedly unique. We're better off for all that he has given us and all the poorer that he's left us so soon. He will be sorely missed.

Here's the time series of CO2 from this morning's #EAS2022 #SS8 session. The horizontal lines delineate the "might be concerning from a COVID perspective" level (above the orange) and the "demonstrably concerning from a cognitive impact perspective"...

A very clever paper by Callingham et al. on arXiv this morning. Uses the distribution of energy and angular momentum of satellite galaxies in the Eagle cosmological simulations to infer the mass of the Milky Way. arxiv.org/abs/1808.10456
