Dr. Appau Benjamin (PHARM D)🇬🇭🇺🇸
Thank you for summary but I would like to clarify your points 3 and 5. For point 3, the specific passing TOEFL scores are 4,5,5 and 4.5 out of 6 for Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing respectively. For point 5, the FPGEE is a 200 MCQ computerized based test for 4.5 hours

Ghanaian🇬🇭 Pharmacists' pathway to US🇺🇸 PharmD Licensure: FPGEC Certification (most common for practicing pharmacists): 1. Credential evaluation: Apply to the NABP (National Association of Boards of Pharmacy) for FPGEC (Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee) Certification) This requires a review of your education and licensure/registration from your home country. 2. Education requirement: The candidate must have completed at least a five-year pharmacy curriculum in their home country. This is a key hurdle because many programs outside the US, including some in Ghana, are four-year programs. 3. TOEFL iBT: A passing score on the Test is required as part of FPGEC certification. Ghana being an English-speaking country, this should be manageable. 4. FPGEE exam: The FPGEE is a 250-question multiple choice computerized examination administered over a 5 and a half hour testing period. It covers biomedical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, social/behavioral/administrative sciences, and clinical sciences. 5. Internship hours: After passing the FPGEE, candidates must complete a required number of internship hours, which vary by state. 6. NAPLEX: Before you can be a licensed pharmacist in the US, you need to pass the NAPLEX, which is the same pharmacy licensure exam that US graduates take. 7. State jurisprudence exam (MPJE): Each state has its own pharmacy law exam that must be passed as well. 8. State licensure: Each state has different requirements for obtaining a license, so once FPGEC certified, it is important to check the board of pharmacy website for specific licensure requirements in the state or jurisdiction where you wish to be licensed

Dr. Banda Khalifa MD, MPH, MBA
Most of my mentees who are Pharm D’s will do a dual MPH & MBA and head to Industry or consulting… or Do an MPH, then PHD in Pharmacoepidemiology, and head to Industry…
