The @NCAR_Science is quite literally our global mothership. Nearly everyone who researches climate and weather - not only in the US, but around the world - has passed through its doors and benefited from its incredible resources. The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) supports the scientists who fly into hurricanes, the meteorologists who develop new radar technology, the physicists who envision and code new weather models, and yes - the largest community climate model in the world. This is bad. Milton was just upgraded to a Cat 5 with sustained winds of 175 mph. Heartbreaking for Florida. Prayers are up for everyone. Thank God they have an amazing Governor. I know they have been preparing.

It's really so important // here in Japan, which gets positive cherry picked stories about "oh look at this sacred temple tree! so carefully cared for" there is very little budget/attention given by municipal/prefectectural govs to maintaining parks forests & street trees

@cambecc Hi, I was researching to create a unity program that shows ocean conditions, air currents, etc. and came across this really great project. I was wondering if you could tell me the API used in that project? I really don't mind, but I'm a novice developer and don't have a clue.

Hurricane #BERYL is nearing #Jamaica still as a Category 4 hurricane, with sustained winds of 145 mph. If Beryl makes landfall in Jamaica as a Category 4, it’ll be the strongest hurricane to ever directly strike the island, beating GILBERT 1988. Preparations in Jamaica should be rushed to completion now. Landfall is expect within the next 5 hours.

The only other major hurricane to pass within 100 miles of where #Beryl is on Monday morning was Ivan in September 2004, and that was at Category 3 intensity. These islands have no experience with a Category 4 hurricane in recorded history.
