@kane This is such a weak take. Yes, Canadian health care can be better (though the American system is no picnic either) As for MAID, it is just a logical option if you are facing severe suffering. Think about it. And I can tell you first hand, it is not "easy" or just "handed out"

Canadian labour productivity fell in Q4...now unchanged over past 5 years. Lots of factors at play here, but one is that Canadian businesses have levered growth off cheap foreign labour rather than being forced to embrace productivity-enhancing technology. This has to end

@RokBichin @VancouverSun That's fair. It's also not the issue. Sim knew he was wrong. Called a presser and then realized he had nothing to say. Totally on brand

@VancouverSun Sean Orr is a far left activist in my opinion. He doesn’t even understand his role in municipal politics and keeps focused on federal and provincial jurisdictional issues.

Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim's defence against a potential defamation lawsuit is literally that some guy showed him a photo on their phone and the Mayor believed it, so he repeated it. ctvnews.ca/vancouver/arti…

everyone teaches you how to hire, but nobody teaches you how to fire. (and it’s one of the hardest things you’ll ever have to do) I have 3 rules: don't apologize, don't make it about you, and make it fast. this is one of the worst days of their life. dragging it out with explanations and apologies serves you, not them. let them leave with dignity and move on, they don't want to sit there while you make yourself feel better.

@InsiderTakes Hinton is a big thinker. He doesn't only have to pontificate about AI and p(doom) He is also a citizen. Calling Ford out for his incompetence and grift is fair game.

@jrodgers This is still objectively bad for Canada. We are making bad choices and we do not have a "Bay Area" within Canada offsetting this. "Things are shitty elsewhere, so don't sweat the shit here" is not a take I expected to hear from you. It's not time to relax. LFG!

#BadBunny wracked up a huge audience for his incomprehensible half time appearance.  But how did the malevolent rabbit get the gig in the first place?  We found out!  It’s on the @NoSpinNews tonight.

I am building out Meta's compute desk. I am looking for folks with background in any of: deep learning, supply chains, commodities, semiconductors, sovereigns, energy, Excel, prediction markets, monitoring situations, etc. Candidates should have experience in at least one of these domains, and novel ideas on how to apply LLMs to their work. If you'd like to help manage $100b+ of compute spend, please DM and include information about why you're a fit. (If you're in doubt about being a good fit please apply! Epistemic humility is in short supply these days.)

Compared to signals, roundabouts are safer for all road users because they (1) reduce conflict points, and (2) slow down drivers. Some of you will have the urge to tell me that thousands of case studies must be wrong because your intuition tells you so. Feel free.
