UPDATE: INDOOR DINING WILL NO LONGER RESUME ON THURSDAY.
We had planned to loosen restrictions this week. However, after #COVID19 spikes in other states driven by, in part, the return of indoor dining, we have decided to postpone indoor dining indefinitely.
After a full week in the office this week. 1. People really really love #Capemay 2. People don’t want to visit without outdoor dining at a minimum, preferably indoor dining service
@chadludeman@CookeCapeMay . Who will sanitize the tables between each use? What happens to the take-out containers left behind? Can people monopolize a table for hours? Who will stop them? Which #CapeMay residents will allow their street to be taken over by strangers at tables? Name the street.
@CoachJEB18@CapeMayTimes Few people in #CapeMay on the streets, on the promenade, on the beach are wearing masks, despite state and county recommendations. Scary.
NEW: @NewJerseyDEP has launched the #MaskUpNJ campaign to encourage more New Jerseyans to wear face coverings at New Jersey parks and beaches. Be a model for others. Take part.
If you think you look silly wearing a face covering – imagine how silly you’d look in a hospital gown.
@petegenovese For anyone who's grown up going to the shore, it's like time travel. Yes, you're older. You might not move as well as you used to. But when you stand on the sand and look out at the ocean, nothing's changed. You're ten years old again.
What's so great about the Jersey Shore? Why does it matter? I'm doing a piece celebrating the Shore, which I argue we need more than ever. What makes the Shore special? Why do we keep going back year after year, despite the traffic jams, parking meters and bad boardwalk pizza?
@CookeCapeMay It sounds like a nice idea for stand alone stores but, in these social distancing times, how will the Wash St. Mall manage the crowd of people window shopping and standing in line at all the stores along with the regular pedestrians, ice cream eaters etc.
@AnnDelaneyBeach It's understandable that people with medical issues are reluctant to travel. I'm amazed that anyone is willing to take a risk at the moment. Even if they do bring their own pillows. Are they younger or older?
@capemay Jane, the latest county "proposed" time-table pushed back outdoor dining to June 8th and indoor socially distanced dining in bars and restaurants to June 15th. Hoping the trend of relaxation @GovMurphy following continues.
If you had to go wee in #CapeMay the City had 4 public bathrooms open till 5 PM. Masks, Sanitizer and closed regularly for cleaning. Note sign, use at own risk.
@lrizzi95@CookeCapeMay John - I hadn't heard anything about restaurants opening up for dine-in service in June...did I miss that? Last I heard it was just takeout or delivery.
@CookeCapeMay Keep the Cape May quarantine info coming. I have a vacation scheduled for August and I find your tweets to be very informative. Not sure if we will cancel yet but if there is social distancing at the Congress Hall pool or carry out only at local restaurants , what’s the point?
