@honeyscave @ZelenskyyUa Or a person who’s successfully kept his house standing despite someone trying to continuously burn it down, selling you techniques on how to keep the fire at bay.

@ZelenskyyUa Zelenskyy showing up in Doha to offer security advice to the Gulf feels a bit like someone whose own house is on fire trying to sell you a smoke detector.

The difficulty of booking a driving test is a national scandal: My son had to get up on a Monday at 6am to be online when new slots were released and was elated to get one in six months' time, 20 miles away, in the middle of his A Level exams. How did the system get SO broken?

I'm trying to figure out where to live next, and one big consideration is the climate. So naturally I made a tool that represents monthly average temperatures for cities as 3D rings so they can be compared more easily. Check it out: awjuliani.github.io/weather-explor…

@NateSilver538 I use 4.3 as the base metric. It’s a number that seems to mean it’s good, has plenty of reviews but not suspicious.

Also, some restaurant selection tips. This one is kind of important if using Yelp/Google/etc.

Busy week at the newsletter ahead, but I figured we’d get the second half of SBSQ published before we invade Greenland or something. Here's why Drake Maye, not Matt Stafford, should be MVP. natesilver.net/p/sbsq-28b-may…

People on min wage London are going the be paying nearly an entire hours wages per day to get to work on the tube. All whilst the greedy tube drivers want kite money. It’s obscene, for that alone @MayorofLondon should resign

@grantshapps Would you really get on a packed train 50m beneath the surface with only two useable doors in tunnels with 800-1,000 onboard with no one trained in what to do if something goes wrong?

@grantshapps Yet they still experience strike action… because they still have to have a trained operator onboard!

🚗❌ Berlin could soon ban most private cars from its city center — creating the largest car-free zone in the world, bigger than Manhattan. Here’s how this citizen-led movement is rewriting the future of cities 🧵

Sometimes having a more straightforward journey is better than a quicker one. Eg: One bus takes you 45 minutes but 2 buses gets you there in 30. I'd rather the first option unless I'm in a rush.

gbnews.com/politics/nigel… Ooopsss… Mr.@Nigel_Farage himself has just challenged me on the facts! What an honor — for a “giant man,” as he described me (meaning, of course, from a “tiny country”) — to earn the attention of Britain’s unrivaled virtuoso of headline politics. He said — and I quote: “I tell you what, Mr. Rama, did you know one in 50 Albanians in Britain are in prison? So show some goodwill and take them all back tomorrow, because this is hypocrisy.” Well, Mr. Farage — let me return the challenge with something unusually boring in your line of work: actual numbers. That “one in 50 Albanians are in prison” claim? It’s not a fact. It’s bonkers. A classic from the post-truth Brexit playbook: “If it sounds scary, it must be true.” Guess what? When the numbers are actually run — surprise! — even if we assumed every Albanian currently in prison is guilty (and in fact, many are caught up in an outdated and restrictive visa system), the rate of criminality among Albanians in the UK would be no higher than — and likely lower than — that of the British population itself. Now, since we both seem to cherish “goodwill” and are clearly allergic to “hypocrisy,” here’s my offer: Let’s both bring our numbers to the table. If your “one in 50” claim holds water — I will personally commit to taking them all back. That’s not a competing headline — it’s a public pledge. But if your scary stat turns out to be just tabloid fuel, then no apology needed. No drama. Instead, you’ll come to Albania — as my guest of honor. You’ll get real sun, real hospitality, and even more real facts — about Albania and its fabulous people. And all I ask in return is the simplest public pledge from you, made while enjoying our country: next time someone badmouths Albanians, you’ll be the first to tell them — in your histrionic way — not to do it again. So what do you say? One fact-check for a full deportation — or a full vacation, with some of the warmest people you’ll ever meet. Come on, Nigel. If you lose on a fact check, you’ll still win a whole nation of friends for life. Looking forward to hearing from you.

@Ed_Miliband It’s only sunny in the day. Wind is highly variable. You need something else for windless nights and cloudy days. No hope of having enough batteries. What’s your answer? If it’s gas, then drill and crack for our own gas. If it’s nukes, you not need solar and wind.
