CPI came in at 2.4% today and everyone relaxed. But that's February data. It doesn't include diesel prices up 28% in two weeks. Every restaurant in America gets its food on a truck. That cost increase isn't in the CPI yet. It's coming. March is going to be ugly.

CPI report just dropped and here's what most people will miss... eating out inflation is running 3.9% while groceries are 2.4%. That 150 basis point gap is the 'I'll just cook at home' trigger. Restaurants that figured out their menu is really a pricing strategy are about to separate from the ones that think it's a food list. The protein mix is the whole game right now... chicken is flat, beef is up 15%. The winners already pivoted
