I heard that Ben Cowen is being paid to bear post about Bitcoin. Anyone have any actual evidence of this?

@vohvohh Had bone cancer in 2005 in my left knee. They cut the femur off above the knee and my tibia tibia below the knee, gave me an artificial knee joint and partial femur. I’ve had it replaced 7 times now, most recently over Christmas. Had this wild pain for 20 years now

I’ve always had bad knees. Impact sports, lifting, farm work, and an overall active lifestyle, have taken their toll. 6 months ago I finally had enough of the constant pain and discomfort. Pain when walking, sitting, laying down, and of course, doing what I loved: playing sports. So, I went to a doctor. I was bounced around to four more doctors until the last doctor finally suggested that I simply… rest. I was ‘diagnosed’ with a small meniscus tear, infrapatella issues, and to cap it off, persistent patella tendinitis. I was devastated. I obliged and rested. For months. The pain subsided for a bit, I stopped playing the sports I love. I became depressed, but hey, at least my knee stopped hurting. I still haven’t returned to playing sports due to fear that it would flare up again and I’d be back at square one. I was careful, I did everything the doctors said. Despire that, the pain is back, and it’s worse this time. Unfortunately for me, there is no “cure”, but ‘pain can be managed’ with rest, ice, and pain medications. And it may come back, without causation, just like it did this week. Of course surgery is an option. But most knee-related procedures have a high failure rate that often result in more pain, and as an otherwise healthy person in my 20s, all of the doctors I’ve seen have advised against it. So now, I’m at a crossroads again. Should I choose to see another set of doctors that will all tell me the same thing and opt for another 6 months of rest and hope for the best, or should I look into alternative options, such as holistic medicine, stem cell therapy, peptides, and more experimental approaches? To anyone that has ever lived with persistent and chronic pain without a resolution, I am so sorry, and I hope it gets better for you.

@romanyam How does the threat of asi matter or even exist if we are already in a simulation? Would we not already be under its control?

An interview about AI must be posted in a few weeks or it becomes completely outdated. This interview has been posted 6-months after recording. Luckily it is on the timeless subject of Hacking our Simulation.

How did a cartographer in 1531 outline a landmass no one had officially discovered yet? Let’s start here. 1531. Orontius Finaeus world map. Antarctica is drawn as a full continent with coastlines, bays, and interior geometry. Second map. Fast forward. Pinkerton’s Eastern Hemisphere. 1818. Antarctica is shown as an empty circle. A void. A placeholder. Two maps. Three centuries apart.

i don't think this is likely, but i have this intrusive thought every now and then: at some point btc vol compresses to the point that speculators move on, then traders move on, then it underperforms equities for an entire "cycle" and the world collectively is like "well.. failed experiment" re: currency debasement, and just sticks to stocks/gold, and some group of bozos gets caught holding the bag on btc as it trends toward zero
Gammichan@gammichan

I think the best argument here is negating the inverse. What else are you gonna put your money in? Cash bad, bonds bad, gold is the thing we expect to be replaced by BTC, housing is overpriced to the point people can't afford until they're 40+, equities are at crazy P/Es, etc.
