@ShamashAran I'm glad someone else is recognizing this. It's culture, not race. The real problem with true racists is they can't see the forest for the trees. They want a culture, not a race, too. Daryl Davis showed us this.

Ad arguendo, if it's mostly white people and a small smattering of "other diverse" people? Fine. There is a specific culture I want to live in, it has nothing to do with the ethno makeup of it
Jacob Kektrell@BeefCakeJake42

@ShamashAran What if that is impossible? Do you still want to live with people that have narrow mean ratings? What if those people are all white?

@amuse Never have been. I'm still really creeped out by how many Americans immediately thought "Russia invaded Ukraine? That means they're our closest ally or something! Russia bad!"

@Proud_Feets @FreeNortherner @Maxargues247 You're basically screwed no matter what. You can't vote your way out, and every other avenue is illegal if not genuinely immoral. They've set it up to where you have the choice to be a victim, be evil, or be and evil victim. You can't get out of the game, and you can't win it.

@JesterLaureate @OrwellNGoode 86 years old. Maybe didn't remember the term "VCR" but did see the letters "VHS" on the cassette. Seems plausible to me.

Honestly, as someone who has traveled a lot, India is the best country I have ever traveled to. It’s incredible. I will have been here for 9 days when I leave, and there is still so much to see and do. My experience has been amazing and India is portrayed negatively in the media as a place Amercians should avoid, but I realize a lot of that is completely made up. The people, food, culture and hospitality culture are just incredible. I have felt safe and comfortable the entire time I have been here and India will truly be the next big super power. This country has incredible potential and you have to see it yourself to understand because the media only makes it out to be 3rd world. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Indian people are the nicest people I have ever met. I am very grateful for my time in India. I have enjoyed it so much and I hope I can come back every year. Next time I want to visit South India. I have tried to do as much as possible these last 9 days but there is still so much to see and do. All good things come to an end. I’ll be back (hopefully soon). I love India. My misconceptions have been corrected. I have nothing but nice things to say. 🇮🇳

@staringindis @marsplushumans @BasedTorba Cool story bro. Since you're evidently new to the internet and computers as a whole, it's called standardization. You should really read up on it when you have a minute.

WTF are you talking about? You don't know me or shit all about my app. Some dork comes up with YET ANOTHER fucking browser and the whole world was supposed to support their bullshit compatibility decisions? We had to support dozens of versions of commercial browsers approved for financial services orgs and pass incredible security testing so yeah, we weren't going to add yet another one to the support matrix that NO ONE IN OUR MARKET USED.

@marsplushumans @staringindis @BasedTorba Tag me in on this. I want to know, too. Lazy programmers have deleted ALL gains in CPU architecture for the last 40 years. As someone who works on one of the highest performance designs ever created, they absolutely sicken me and it is more personal than it probably should be.

@SandyofCthulhu We also have super acidic digestive fluids compared to most. So much so that there's speculation we were once carrion eaters.

Every herbivore is able to eat meat. Plants are much more difficult to digest than meat - look at the complicated systems herbivores must use to do it - they need multiple stomachs (ruminants), reprocessing waste (rabbits), or long-term fermentation. Almost any herbivore's digestive tract will easily handle eating meat. I've seen a cow eat a chicken and everyone knows chickens eat everything. The difficulty herbivores have is that they are designed to escape predators, not to hunt them down. They don't have the physical ability in most cases to capture prey (the cow who ate the chicken cornered it in the barnyard). Thus, while a pigeon can absolutely eat a dead sparrow, it's hard for the pigeon to kill that sparrow in the first place. Carnivores have much simplified digestive tracts, which is why our torsoes are so much narrower than an herbivores. Humans are sometimes an exception because we're so successful we become obese, but our innards are, unsurprisingly in between carnivore and herbivore. We have about 26 feet of intestines, which might seem like a lot, but a deer of equal size has 65 feet of intestine! A lion only has about a 6 foot tract. Ours is longer because we do eat plants, but we are super-picky about our plants. We eat fruit, nuts, and the very least fibrous leaves, stems and roots. We can't eat grass, most tree leaves, pine needles, etc. Anyway. I look forward to our New Squirrel Masters forming packs to hunt us down and feast on us like we deserve.
Massimo@Rainmaker1973

California squirrels are eating rodents in broad daylight. In California’s Briones Regional Park, researchers observed a startling new behavior: California ground squirrels, typically known for eating nuts and seeds, are now hunting, killing, and consuming voles, a smaller rodent species in their habitat. A study in the Journal of Ethology documented 74 squirrel-vole interactions, with 42% involving squirrels stalking, pouncing on, and eating voles. This behavior, observed almost daily, marks the first recorded instance of widespread carnivory in this species. While squirrels have occasionally eaten insects or bird eggs, actively hunting warm-blooded prey is unprecedented. Student-recorded videos show squirrels chasing voles, restraining them with forepaws, biting their necks, and consuming their flesh or organs. The behavior may stem from a vole population surge—nearly seven times the state’s ten-year average—prompting squirrels to exploit this abundant protein source. Squirrels of all ages and sexes participated, suggesting a potential lasting adaptation. It’s unclear if this carnivorous trend will continue once vole numbers normalize, but the discovery reveals the surprising adaptability of even well-known animals. You're seeing people struggling to get their heads around how & why AI-generated media counts as art because they misunderstand what "art" even is. "Art" is the marriage of craftmanship and imagination. It's not the presence or absence of AI that results in what people call "slop," it's a lack of creative talent. If you have creative talent, AI is just another tool to leverage. A video like this is the product of a new kind of craftsmanship, done with a new set of tools, and like any tool, it has to be used in a particular way to produce the results you want:
Frasier Payne@MeinGottNiles

I controlled every aspect of this video. Each scene was prearranged by me before being animated. AI simply replaced the camera and crew that I can’t afford. Ask AI to “reimagine Take On Me” and you’ll get slop. Use AI to project from your own imagination and you’ll get this.
