This is why I avoid almost all large social events and gatherings They are breeding ground for the average perception and I don’t want my perception to be polluted

@blurbanist a lot of developers do their part to save buildings, but this specific pocket of town is unsalvageable; in complete ruin from homeless, etc. there's no rent cheap enough to get tenants excited about going there. the city needs to do its part to fix that

Houston has a habit of erasing chapters of its own story. I was sad to see this beauty at 718 Pease St — solid historic brick — demolished back in 2019 for a now empty parking lot. Imagine if we’d kept the façade and built thoughtfully on top, like this adaptive reuse concept. The bones were right there. Denser workforce-housing, ground floor retail, and Houston’s history still standing.

@bankertobuilder Do you have any communities with cemeteries on site? Want to make sure the commute is not too long when we pass

We're building a one-of-a-kind neighborhood for commuters No slow 20 MPH streets No kids getting in the way of your drive to the office Hop directly onto the freeway from your driveway (75 MPH speed limit) We're building this about 80 miles outside Cincinnatti Homes will be completed by this summer - starting in the $800ks

@Thinkerks Or airfare has become so cheap that a Mumbai-JFK round trip only costs 7x the price of a WTC-JFK taxi

The USA has become so expensive that a one way taxi from the WTC to JFK costs about 14% of a Mumbai–JFK–Mumbai economy fare.

AI destroys margins in rule-verification industries but massively increases productivity in judgment industries.

AI is therefore more likely to automate specific structured tasks within jobs than replace entire professions. Imagine the productivity increase of an architect assisted by AI, while the plan reviewer — whose job is largely rule verification — gets replaced entirely.

AI performs exceptionally well — faster and often better than humans — in rule-bounded, verifiable environments: coding, writing, chess, etc. There are clear rules and immediate feedback about whether the next move is correct. Most real-world work, however, is not rule-bounded.

@Stef1ski Lol, imagine thinking that a democracy with 10 million people is the obstacle to "world peace" and not the Arab dictatorships with 450 million trying to destroy it for nearly 80 years.
