I have a 6yo nephew who is obsessed with cars and I am a woman who has basically the bare minimum car knowledge. Last time my nephew was staying with me, I took him to a vintage car show. Kid had the time of his life voting for his favorite car and telling everyone what he liked about theirs. My advice if you have a son who likes tractors is to take him to see some tractors. It's ok if kids don't end up with the interests we wanted. Tractors and people who drive them are important to society.

No showers on this flight, only baths! This is the 1,200 lb "bathtub" that houses the pilot and controls for the A-10 Thunderbolt II. It is an armored shell made up of a series of titanium plates ranging in thickness from 0.5 inches to 1.5 inches. It was designed to shield the pilot from direct hits, specifically capable of withstanding heavy 23mm and 37mm anti-aircraft cannon fire, as were common calibers of Soviet guns during the Cold War. The interior walls of the tub are covered in a multi-layer nylon spall shield to prevent metal fragments from harming the pilot if a round breaches the outer layer. Multiple stories abound of pilots returning home with holes in the bottom of the aircraft, but not a scratch on the pilot. It's just one of a hundred features all designed to bring the plane and pilot back home so they can live to fight another day.
