Most solutions in education are simple, but not easy. Behavior? Set standards and enforce them. Learning? Expect more and support the work. Phones? Ban them and hold the line. The complexity comes from a lack of understanding this basic principle. The real problem is that we've lost our will to do the hard things and confused our priorities.

Let’s not. Let’s get coaches who create great experiences for kids who WANT to do basketball. Because one thing I feel good about is this — if you are good enough to play a coach will find you. He might even come to the state basketball tournament to watch you play.

Two years ago I had the opportunity to speak at the @NebraskaCoach Football Clinic about building a culture in a high school football program.
