Back in 2021 when I was in high school. Gen.G and the team took a shot on me and gave me opportunities to work on some of the coolest projects from creating/producing creative and visuals for sponsorships like Mercedes Benz and Puma to working on influencer campaigns for Toyota and Samsung. I’m happy to report I still work on the same kind of projects almost 5 years later and I don’t think if I didn’t get chances like that I wouldn’t be in the industry that I am today. Gaming is a bridge and I hope my story inspires someone.

In the eight years I’ve worked in gaming, one thing always stood out: so many young people with a genuine passion for gaming and zero clue what to do with it professionally. According to our internal survey data at Gen.G, 2 out of 3 high schoolers who game say they’re interested in exploring careers in gaming. By the time they graduate college, less than 1% will have taken a single class dedicated to it. That gap shouldn’t exist. Gaming is now a $224B industry, bigger than film and music combined. It’s not niche. It hasn’t been for a while. And yet there’s almost no real education pipeline to match it. What little does exist skews heavily toward game design and development. Real skills, real jobs, but a small slice of what the industry actually needs. Think about it like food. We don’t only need chefs. We need the people running operations, marketing, finance, partnerships, media. Gaming is the same. Most of the jobs look nothing like making a game. Esports, for instance, is <1% of the available jobs within a gaming company. So we built something for high schoolers who are serious about this. @GenG partnered with @ASU at their new Downtown Los Angeles campus to create a one-month program taught by people actually working in the industry. How games make money, the marketing of games, how AI is changing the industry, content creation, sponsorship, operations. Sessions run in June, July, and August. We've also worked really hard to have scholarship options based on merit so that anyone that deserves to go, will be able to go. Hytale just pulled off one of the craziest business moves in all of gaming, and nobody is even talking about it. In 2019, the creators of Minecraft’s most successful server network released their trailer for Hytale (62 MM views on YouTube) Following this hype Riot Games purchased the studio and IP for an estimated $25M in 2020 The game sat with Riot for 5 YEARS until Simon purchased the game BACK FROM RIOT, and much of the industry believed that if Riot couldn’t get the game out, how could Simon and his team? AS OF JAN 13TH, 2026, the Hytale team has released the "Beta" version of the game, and there are over 300k Viewers watching the game live on Twitch The community has been following this journey for YEARS now, and we are all so excited to finally see this come to life I have said it befor and I will say it again... The Minecraft community breeds some of the most incredible talent in the world.

Live mindfully. Slow down a bit and look at yourself in the mirror, look at everything and everyone around you. You have a lot, you have things others dreamed of. Savour the experience of living slowly and mindfully, take deep breaths, and say, “I’m grateful”

Stop being a loser. Wake up early. Hit the gym. Clean your room. Do the dishes. Put some cool clothes on. Listen to music. Do your makeup. Pay your bills. Pay off your CC. Work three jobs if you have to. Don’t stop till you have at least 20k in the bank. Figure out what you want to do. Spend your life trying to do it. More importantly, figure out who you want to be. Spend your life being them. Try hard. It’s cool to care. Be the one who cares the most. Don’t give up. But have the wherewithal to know when to pivot. If it were easy, everyone would do it. Hard does not equal bad. Have a back bone. Grow some balls. Go all the way. Smile at everyone. Life is electric and then it’s over. You can be happy or you can be miserable. Remember. You’re not the only one who’s had it bad. Someone else has been in your shoes. If they can do it, so can you. No one is special. Everyone is. Keep going. Don’t look back.
