Two of the biggest pushers of the “DEI hysteria” were Vivek and Elon. And they (along with others) made people actually believe that there was this wave of Black people who were getting jobs that we didn’t deserve. It was never true. Statistically other groups benefitted FAR more from DEI than Black people. But they convinced you otherwise and (some of) you went along with it. Now Vivek tells you that if you care about American jobs going to American workers, that’s the equivalent to DEI. Do you see how much of a SCAM the hysteria was the entire time? Instead of having conversations about legitimate concerns with “DEI” as currently understood, they weaponized many of you against the entire IDEA of diversity and inclusion. Only to turn around and tell you that you don’t deserve a seat at the table either. Black people are always a canary in the coal mine. Elites will abuse you the same way they abuse us. It never fails. Get it through your heads. Either we win together or we lose together. Wake up.

Dummy they have been doing that. But you people call it DEI and want to get rid of programs such as that… Have you not heard of Black Girls Code, Black Boys Code, Dream Hustle Code, etc ?? Microsoft even at one point had a small program called ManCode where they would go around the country introducing coding to young black students in middle/high school. I had them come to Durham and do a session at NCCU. Then there’s another section who believe we don’t need to focus on that, and that school ain’t for everybody.

If y’all can teach Deepak to code you can teach D’Angelo to code too. Why do nobody ever want to give Black America a chance to thrive? Promote STEM in the hood instead of rap music.

‼️New pub alert‼️ Woke up to see this out today in @SocialMedia_Soc! In this study, we seek to understand disclosure among those with intersecting stigmas in Mumbai. This work also brought me to India last year where I finally got to meet our wonderful collaborators in-person!

I’m still riding the high from #CSCW2024 in Costa Rica! Being surrounded by such brilliant minds working on super cool research projects, catching up with old friends, and getting to know new ones was absolutely the highlight. Can’t wait for the next CSCW in Norway -Pura Vida! 🇨🇷

@danielequercia @naz_andalibi @bzfzhang Ultimately, while they all described a general understanding how algorithms, including those on social media, worked to deliver and rank content in their feeds, they still felt relatively unable to meaningfully resist unwanted consequences of these algorithms. @danielequercia @naz_andalibi @bzfzhang Hi! This was a qualitative interview study with folks who interface with (and often design) algorithms daily in their work, so we didn't use quant measures. In interviews, we asked them to describe how much they felt they understood social media algorithms. (1/2)

Thank you! I’m so grateful to Ben for being a gracious and brilliant collaborator. He is the heart of this project and while he would absolutely have been able to do this work without me, I would not have been able to do this without him. Thank you Ben @bzfzhang 🩷

Honored to be selected as an EECS Rising Star by @MITEECS . The workshop was inspiring, connecting me with female role models and exposing me to exciting computer science research. It has motivated me to further tackle real-world problems by understanding human creativity.
