There is a serious constitutional crisis when the legislative branch of the federal government is unable to legislate because of self-imposed ‘extra-constitutional’ rules and procedures. The Byrd Rule… named for a long-dead Democrat leader who appears to control the Senate from the grave. The filibuster rule that can’t work because of some long ago interpretation of the filibuster process. The question is whether the Senate leaders will continue to allow their foolish adherence to arcane rules and procedures to create this constitutional crisis. They say they won’t “nuke” the filibuster. But they also won’t overturn the long ago ruling by a parliamentarian who “interpreted” the 2-speech rule to mean the filibuster can never ever end. As we have had to learn more about the Senate rules, it is becoming increasingly clear that the Senate is refusing to protect the filibuster by overturning the interpretation that makes the filibuster impossible to end without a supermajority. That’s a constitutional crisis and rather than seriously address the issue and the procedures and the rules, the Senators left town. So disgraceful. We will know soon enough where these Senators went if they traveled during the recess. How many went on junkets. Who had fundraising trips. What they did rather than face their responsibilities. Like funding DHS. Like securing our elections. Like addressing this constitutional crisis they have allowed to take over the Senate and that they refuse to remedy. This is not what the voters bargained for. This irresponsible bunch of Senators who refuse to protect the Senate and ensure its ability to function to serve the people. They’re mad at @BasedMikeLee for calling this all into public view. On full display so we now see it - understand it. And hate it. But he’s not the problem. They just didn’t want the public to ever find out. But now we know. And we are disgusted. @EIwatchdogs @BasedMikeLee @chiproytx

The reporting on AZ ESAs this year is a head scratcher. Harris’ latest shows K- 12 kids getting educated for less than the per pupil amount, getting into great colleges, & using savings to start out with less debt. Sounds like a pretty good investment for kids & for taxpayers!

IMMINENT THREAT: Iran fired two ballistic missiles with a range of over 4,000km, putting most NATO capitals and bases in range. How is that not an imminent threat to US and allied security? And what if Tehran created 11 nuclear warheads from their 60% enriched uranium?

By clinging to the debunked 20% figure despite clear evidence from random samples showing misspending is less than 2%, 12News engages in journalistic malpractice. It’s time for it to correct the record and stop undermining school choice.

Craig, thank you for the cordial replies. I agree social media typically devolves into people talking past each other. That’s why I specifically chose a long-form piece to lay out factually the repeated errors and misrepresentations from the 12News team. These are not just matters of our differing opinions about the ESA program. They are factual, quantitative errors and misstatements by your team and the ‘expert’ you relied on. I have asked for a retraction (or for you to correct me if I am in error). As I state in the piece, you occupy a position of enormous public trust at an institution you did not build. 12News’ entire purpose for existing is to provide accurate, reliable information to its viewers, not to promote a biased narrative that requires increasingly unimpressive rhetorical gymnastics to sustain it. I believe you owe it to your audience to acknowledge that your team’s reporting has been badly inaccurate. Your compilation segments at 12News have repeatedly divorced themselves so thoroughly from objective reporting and neutral presentation that I fail to see the value of a 12News controlled interview other than to further distract from the points I have raised here. I would be glad, however, to discuss a joint appearance on an impartial outlet in which I am able to represent the viewpoint of the parents while you/12News represent the viewpoint of the unions. (I understand folks like Mike Broomhead have welcomed both you and pro-ESA voices on in the past few days, giving each an impartial opportunity to present your case). That, however, is entirely separate from, and should not come before, the duty that you have to first admit (or contest) the factual claims I’ve put forward—including retracting the litany of 12News' false statements and misrepresentations.
