astonishing how whenever you go to the post office the queue in front of you is made up almost entirely of people who appear to have ended up at the post office by accident, have in fact never visited a post office before, and have no idea what they want out of the experience

Hi @GavinNewsom, just in case you were unaware, you can (and should) do this too!
Governor Josh Shapiro@GovernorShapiro

I’ve directed @PennDOTNews to immediately begin the process of transferring $153 million in federal highway money to @SEPTA. That funding will prevent service cuts, delay dramatic fare hikes until at least next July, and ensure the good people of southeastern Pennsylvania can rely on SEPTA to get where they need to go.

@catrope @ASFleischman I saw videos of bystanders helping him restrain and then defending him after but I don’t doubt you speak truth. Would you argue the drugs don’t make people fragile? I gather that’s legally irrelevant but still.

I suspect that people are going to be very upset by the Daniel Penny verdict no matter how it goes but jurors often just get two inconsistent sets of facts and choose the one they prefer.

@ASFleischman Is there ever any consideration forthe extreme fragility of people on a cocktail of modern drugs? Has that even been established? Like with Floyd it seems like Penny’s actions are obviously the trigger for death but is it clear it would have killed someone else? Does that matter?

@HellaSanFran @SFMTA_Muni All of these are already car-free (JFK, that little stub of 7th Ave near Lincoln) or have separated bike/ped paths next to the road (Panhandle, Kezar). No changes to the status quo in the piece of the map you screenshotted here

@SFMTA_Muni So explain this from Page 59 of your Biking and Rolling Plan. WTF does car free mean then? See, I told you you were liars. It has come to our attention that @SFMTA_Muni is a bunch of fucking liars. This is a fact.

@humantransit @SFMTA_Muni A citizens initiative tried to increase taxes on TNC and AV companies (not a tax per ride but a tax on the companies) and it passed, but a competing business tax overhaul measure got more votes and invalidated it

Great to see the congestion mitigation tax, but obviously it should be much higher. @SFMTA_Muni

First ⁦@Waymo⁩ ride. At about one dollar per minute for a local trip in San Francisco, it's much too cheap. The city streets just do not have room for everyone to do this.

Hi @EskSF! Great presentation on SF election data tonight. Question I didn’t get the chance to ask: Safaí was discussed as a top candidate throughout the race yet he only ended up getting 0.7% more of the vote than Zhou. What do you accredit this to?

If you wanna know why California has a housing shortage you can observe all the local politicians having a five alarm meltdown at the idea of a building going up in an expensive urban beach neighborhood that has built virtually nothing for decades
Senator Catherine S. Blakespear@SenBlakespear

Thanks to @fox5sandiego for coverage of this planned high-rise in Pacific Beach. “This project is really an inappropriate use of the state’s housing laws.”

Imagining a better world where the AIDS Healthcare Foundation spent $50M on Prop 5 instead of Prop 33 and we now have a 55% voter threshold for affordable housing bonds 🙃

@catrope that’s what i thought, but apparently it’s actually all provisionals because the ballot type can’t be fed into the @dominionvoting machine. i might be wrong though @SFElections ?

1/ why is SF so slow at ballot counting!? on election night ~54.9% of votes were counted. 9 days later there are still 15.8K ballots (~3.8%) left to count. today my team went to @SFElections and discovered 9 bottlenecks. thread 🧵 1/17

@Mtclai This is only true for some provisional ballots, not all, right? Remakes should only be needed when someone cast a ballot in the wrong district, meaning it has a race on them that they're not allowed to vote in. Hopefully provisionals with the right ballot type don't get remade?

14/ ok here's the kicker. each provisional ballot needs to be RE-ENTERED into ANOTHER BALLOT. there are teams of two where one READS off the provisional, and the other types it into a system then prints out a new ballot to be counted. BOTTLENECK #6: manual counting of each provisional

9/ ppl remove valid ballot cards from each VBM envelope & feed them through the left machine. there were 6 ballot cards this year, because of so many damn propositions — 10 in CA, 15 in SF. BOTTLENECK #3: too many propositions finally, they get counted in the room on the right

@Mtclai @SFElections Note that people can mail ballots from anywhere in the United States! If you're out of town around election day, you can take your ballot with you, mail it from somewhere else, and as long as it's in the hands of a USPS employee *somewhere* by election day, it'll be postmarked

7/ yest, @SFElections discovered ~3K ballots that were postmarked 11/5 but arrived 11/12. !? how does it take 7 days in USPS in a city that is 7x7 miles? one staffer said every year they have USPS delays. i'm reminded of parkinson's law... BOTTLENECK #1: USPS + 7 day window

@SFMTA_Muni @sfjason2525 Where do they ship it from, Antarctica? You can send a sheet of stickers in the regular mail from most other continents for less than $14, hell USPS Priority Mail with a tracking number is only like $8

@sfjason2525 We already addressed this: We do not determine the shipping costs. Our partners, who produce and ship the products, make that determination.

Surely, things just didn't seem right. This could be a very big scandal. It's being said that Elon Musk's StarLink satellite Internet software was hooked up to the voting tabulation machines in California and swing states. Why? Seems like they told Trump behind doors that he didn't have to worry about the votes. But Trump wasn't smart enough to keep that information himself.
