They have a whole world with a billion people. And 14 years between E-day and 1 They could easily write a lot of different war stories. The question is, would they just do what they did with 4 and 5 and try and bring their own bullshit narratives and tired millenial writing? Probably. But if this is their swan song, let it be; I will probably play the horde modes and multiplayer for a long time

This makes me really wonder what exactly they are going to do with the new trilogy now that Gears of War E-day is happening, because let’s face it, it’s a pale imitation of the original. Yeah I liked the concept of the Swarm, but Gears 4 and 5 don’t have the spirit and qualities that made the original trilogy so beloved. And outright goes against a lot of what happened, such as COG going back to its fascist ways far too quickly instead of seeing Anya make genuine reforms and change it for the better, JD absolutely deserving of being the main protagonist instead of being pushed to the side, the OG cast deserving more spotlight instead of sidelining them or killing them off(killing Anya was already unacceptable and I genuinely worry for how they are going to handle the "choice" at the end of Gears of War 5) along Reyna and Kait needing a lot more to their characters and making the twist with their ties to Myrrah more compelling. In my honest opinion…I think Xbox should cancel Gears of War 6 and just reboot the new trilogy. Like once Gears of War E-day comes out and reminds the team what made the original games so special, they should just make a rebooted trilogy with that fresh mindset and feedback they will get from E-day, to make a series of games that better has the soul of Gears of War and can make everyone actually excited for new installments to the franchise again.

Look, if they ever make 6, they are going to have to really do a lot of thinking and the opposite of their writing styles 4 and 5 made us trudge through. At this point, I wish they concluded her story as DLC in 5; because I don’t want to see the return of that trainwreck. They just didn’t make me care, they patronized me, and they did a Sin against me by following MILLENIAL and activist writing tropes. Worst of all They took me and the audience for granted just like Disney, Star Wars and Marvel do to there fans everytime the release a flop. I am praying that they left that style of weak writing behind with e-day because they have a lot to explore and it should be easy since they aren’t going to retcon any of the novels or comics.

I do not like day one games with Game Pass. Gears of War: E-Day is a product I am very much looking forward to. With a reported budget of 400 million dollars and it being only available on platforms that don’t require you to pay for it, the project is guaranteed to never be profitable. I’m not bothered that it’s an exclusive, I have both a gaming PC and an Xbox Series X. While the argument can be made this much shouldn’t be spent on creating a single video game to begin with, it’s certainly not wise to sell E-Day this way. There will be some who claim that I or others “shouldn’t worry about it”, but I think that’s reductive. Not only is it obvious that many of us have a passion for gaming that far exceeds playing them (we enjoy the industry itself) but I also want these products to succeed. I do not mind paying money for the games I play. Wouldn’t we rather pay full price for games we love and/or allow them to be on other platforms if it means the teams behind these projects get to make more and be rewarded handsomely? It’s also an age old rebuttal to say “but no one minds when PlayStation and Nintendo have exclusives” which drags the entire conversation down to the lowest common denominator of console warring. Insanely high budgets aren’t smart for any company, but let’s not pretend they’re in the same position as Xbox. If God of War: Laufey costs $400 million it will sell to an audience of over 100 million PS5 consoles and will not be given away on a subscription service. This is a massive difference. Player’s also spend far more per unit on Sony’s ecosystem than Microsoft’s, leading to additional revenue streams of consequence past the expensive AAA game release. When it comes to Nintendo, their budgets are dramatically cheaper to begin with. Their software will also sell in the tens of millions far more frequently than their competitors. Look, I love Xbox and I love a good deal, but day one AAA Game Pass games haven’t made sense for a long time and I’m not entirely convinced console exclusives do either. I think hardware needs exclusives to sell, but E-Day on an Xbox Series X|S in a time when the consoles are too expensive to produce and a small number of people want to buy them to begin with is not it. Game Pass was a great Hail Mary early on, renewing interest in the brand with an extremely affordable price and budgets that hadn’t ballooned beyond all reason, but those days are long behind us. Countless acquisitions have been made to feed the machine, including Call of Duty which was fought in court for only to be removed from the service within two years after everyone told them it would never work. The Game Pass experiment failed, it’s time to move on.

I remember this cartoon. Season 1 killed He-Man in the opening episode and the rest of the season was the Teela Show, with Teela now being a mannish lesbian. Season 2 brought He-Man back but everyone held his death against him, and in the end he gets his powers back but Teela becomes the Sorceress and He-Man states he's not needed anymore because Sorceress Teela is around. Also Evil-Lyn became the main antagonist because Skeletor was sexist, or something. Season 3 walked it all back and made He-Man the main character who gets with Teela, and Skeletor the main villain again, but by then nobody was watching it.
