@VeePeggy @RonCab13 @BraddrofliT JFK almost lost to Nixon. He didn’t win by a landslide. There was huge anti Catholic sentiment in the US. Why would you even use that as an example? Do go on, though. 🙄

Let’s stop pretending this makes sense: if Democrats really had the power to rig the 2020 election, why the hell wouldn’t they use it again in 2024 to keep Trump out? The conspiracy falls apart the second you apply basic logic. Looking forward to MAGA comments.

@markvalorian The data is better here now and Insurance rates have dropped a precipitously on these types of parametric risks as more markets have started to offer and FanDuel/DK have used own data to understand risks more too

As it turns out, the premium estimate may be wrong here...Yahoo did a similar promotion previously and they were charged $11 million for the insurance contract, aka 169x EV, assuming the 1/120B individual odds of success--well in excess of the 3-5x EV values I was seeing before for $1million hole-in-one kinds of competitions. This implies either there was something else negotiated into their insurance deal that bloated its cost or the multiples charged on EV scale dramatically higher with higher prize payouts... Makes me wonder about this whole market now...if the premium you can charge on risk is dramatically higher with higher prize values, certainly insurance companies would be clamoring over themselves to insure these kinds of promotions? And if so, why would it not organically push the market rate down? I've been doing some research and can't really get anything definitive...AI is hitting the slop wall too...so if anyone knows how this works, I would be interested to hear.

Mind boggling stat from running the numbers on this: The $1M secondary prize for the best bracket is probably costing Kalshi about 2-3 times *more* than their cost to offer a BILLION for the grand prize. This is assuming they pay out the million themselves and are charged a premium of 4-5x the present EV of the grand prize by their insurer.
Kalshi@Kalshi

The $1 Billion Kalshi Perfect Bracket Challenge $1 Billion for a perfect bracket $1 Million guaranteed to the top scoring bracket $1 Million to charity and scholarships See the full rules and submit your bracket: kalshi.com/billion-dollar… No purchase or deposit required. SIG Parametrics, LLC, a member of the Susquehanna International Group of Companies, is financially backing this promotion.

@CFL68 @RealBababanaras He didn’t post it with the 9/11 footage. This is added to create hate and division. The post was originally in response to Trump admin pretending the early 2025 plane crashes were fine and he deleted it after being condemned.

Mehdi Hasan has deleted this post because it exposes him. This reflects the thinking that no matter what profession they are in, their main work is to spread Jihad. Can we make him famous by sharing his thoughts so that the world can be saved from another terrorist attack ?

This is from ⁦@johnsb01⁩ story on NJ.com today. The baby boomers raided the pension fund to balance budgets for years, and we are paying $6 billion per year in that subsidy. Now— that generation wants us to subsidize them further through StayNJ. Lunacy.

I think the argument is ended with the polls depicting 90% of Republicans supporting President Trump in the Iran war/conflict a week in (taking into consideration more crossover registered Democrats to Republicans than ever historically). So again this depicts it’s the 10% whether extreme left or right who create 99% of the focus/attention to their claims agenda. Americans who voted President Trump aren’t deaf and blind nor need someone to narrate what he said since day one - “No forever wars” does not equal no wars. No President in history has had no wars, nor would anyone be stupid enough to make that claim. These factions were never the majority views of anything ever, they just manipulate media, platforms, optics to present as such. In truth, it seems both the extreme left who pretends to represent their majority, and the extreme right who pretend they represent their majority, have more in common than 90% of real Americans. The majority of Americans are centrist and either L/R extreme ideology is rejected, always was.

If you've got a $955 annual registration fee for a car you bought in 2023 in MN, that means you dropped a cool $75,000 on this ride. Presuming you put a down payment of $15K on this and you have excellent credit, that means your car payment is $1,084 a month. Anyway, evergreen.

Nobody wants to talk about what this headline ACTUALLY means… “Thousands of CEOs say AI had no impact.” They’re not saying it because it’s true. They’re saying it so you don’t quit before they’re done with you. Hiring is frozen at every major company. College graduate unemployment just hit a record. AI budgets doubled this year. Progressive companies like Block and Salesforce have already begun the switch to AI. They need employees calm. They need employees productive. They need employees to keep showing up and training their AI systems until it’s ready to replace them. The unemployment armageddon is just around the corner, and no one is paying attention… Things are about to get VERY interesting.

@MangoAggro @barkmeta This is not what they are saying. They are saying it has had *no impact now* which is relatively true. This is a past tense discussion not a future state. There are so many legacy pieces in place for all types of jobs and confidential data etc that require massive contracts etc.

CEOs swearing AI changes nothing never learn from history. Same line they used for every efficiency play since the nineties and jobs always disappeared anyway. Your daily output just became the cheapest training run any vendor ever got. Build it yourself or watch it replace you from the inside.

One thing no one ever mentions is how during the 2008 election the Obama camp basically discovered that John McCain’s ‘torture story’ was completely made up and that his ‘war hero’ story was a lie. But instead of attack him for it they just let it go and let him keep is narrative
