I am starting a DM group chat for land investors and developers. If you have a vested interest in buying, developing, and / or selling land… Drop a reply and I’ll include you in the group chat Let’s see how many tweeters are venturing into the land world

@ramit Do you have any guidance on how to set up a “Rich Life” once you’ve retired. Been helping my mom out after the passing of my dad. CSP is helpful, but would love a piece on your perspective of how to set up investments, fixed costs, etc. when you’re living off retirement savings.

One funny comment I get: "Are you just going to rent forever?? What happens when you retire?" They genuinely don't understand that if you build a large enough portfolio, it pays your expenses in perpetuity (yes, even housing) You know, like exactly the way *retirement* works This is a good example of how shows most people's understanding of personal finance is only surface level. They do not see a connection between (1) renting + investing the difference and (2) saving for retirement, even though they are exactly the same concept. And actually, I don't blame them! For example, when it comes to my car, I don't understand the theoretical mechanics of combustion -- I just turn my key and it works (But I also don't go on twitter arguing with people about why you absolutely need to own a house or else you'll be destitute and homeless when you retire...please, read a book) You should question any trite, pithy piece of advice you hear around money, like: * You need to own a house because what will you do when you retire? * Investing is like gambling * There's no way to get ahead in an economy like this * Investing is only for the rich * Avoid lifestyle creep! Money is a small, but important part of a Rich Life, and it's worth spending a single weekend learning the theory behind it. Unlike learning the theory of how a car works, learning how money works might be worth literally millions of dollars to you

The @cityofbhamal has been awarded a nearly $22 million federal grant to create a new urban trail to connect downtown to historic neighborhoods just west of the city center. @RepTerriSewell lauded the grant as a "transformational investment." al.com/news/2023/06/b…

@stoneray_ Agreed on both fronts. Has a ton of potential, but a few loud voices won't let that happen.

Homewood would go nuts, but this dated commercial building should be torn down and replaced with a more reputable urban building that fronts 18th Street. Homewood’s premier downtown intersection should not have a surface parking lot at the corner.

Google should worry more about that than AI, or better cameras, or anything else. If I can't text seamlessly with my family I'll eventually cave to the pressure too and get an iPhone.

Meet Tommy. He was Tiger’s caddie at the ’95 Masters. I was randomly paired up with him Friday at the Augusta Municipal. He shared his life story, which goes much deeper than that one weekend in April. Short thread.
