Back in 2020, @ColumbusSafety grossly violated the employment rights of @ColumbusPolice Sgt. Brooke Wilson. They engaged in a malicious smear compaign against him and accused him of conduct for which they had zero evidence. All of this was done in the name of “social Justice”. Director Pettus, supported by Deputy Directors Doug Sarff and Kathleen Bourke, constructively terminated him. @CityAttyKlein and his staffer @JeffFurbee were aware of Safety’s misconduct and did nothing to intervene.
The city settled Brooke’s lawsuit last week because the depositions of CPD employees being called to testify were brutally devastating to the city. Those deposition transcripts reveal the incredible lengths to which Safety went to railroad Brooke. Brooke was seeking over $2M in damages.
It will be interesting to learn in the coming days how much he got. The amount of money that Safety has, and will continue to pay out, for their misconduct over the past six years is staggering. They have repeatedly shown a remarkable willingness to knowingly violate employee’s job rights all in an attempt to intimidate, harass and punish people whose opinions with which they disagree. All of those decisions revolve around the involvement of Deputy Director Doug Sarff.
